Bias

[edit]

There appears to be an anti-metro slant to this article when the content should perhaps be factual alone. From my reading there seems to be a "politicians wasting money" angle, the icing-on-the-cake of which is "Some politicians have even proposed a Helsinki to Tallinn Tunnel"—which has little to do with the metro and most unlikely to have anything to do with this introduction. On the other hand, that's just my personal reading of the article. —Sladen (talk) 12:02, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a metro supporter, and I can't see anything unduly negative about it in the article. I've removed the tag (and the weird Hki-Tallinn tunnel reference) for now; if you still have concerns, please point out the exact sections. Jpatokal (talk) 14:17, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's probably not as obvious as it was as I did a rewrite[1] and toned down the language shortly after raising it here on the Talk: page. —Sladen (talk) 14:26, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On closer inspection, the article structure was terrible and some of the "references" to the surveys were just plain wrong, so I did one more major reshuffle of the content. Somebody still needs to go through the Raide-YVA and published commentary on TramWest to fill up those [citation needed]'s though. Jpatokal (talk) 14:45, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

This article should be merged with Helsinki_Metro. I see no good reason not to embed this into the "Future" section of the metro article as neither of these articles are very long - nor is the metro of Helsinki such a high-importance topic that it would really deserve two separate articles + it would concentrate the efforts of contributors on one page and perhaps prevent this page from becoming completely POV to one side or the other. --piksi (talk) 01:19, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think both articles are long enough to merit separation, not least for the reason that Länsimetro has become something of a political saga in the Finland and the significance, in terms of cooperation between different cities, regional government and national government, is beyond a simple transport related stubish article. I can also see that when construction starts, as it should soon, there will be a lot more information, photos and updates as papers cover it further. Olyus (talk) 19:36, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the construction has started now. I have frequently passed what will become the Lauttasaari metro station. I'll perhaps take photographs of it when we get enough daylight for it to be possible to photograph it in the evening. JIP | Talk 20:51, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
