Mutiara FM (ZHj Yayasan Wayarles Pulau Pinang) is a oldest Malaysian language-regional radio station operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia broadcasting out of the Penang state capital George Town in Malaysia was first broadcast on 24 August 1934 as ZHj Yayasan Wayarles Pulau Pinang. It broadcasts every day in Malay from 6:00am until 11:59pm MST featuring local news. It transmits from Bukit Penara on FM 95.7 MHz.

The station mostly plays easy listening and Oldies from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s similar and related to to Radio Klasik in Malaysia as targeting listeners between the age of 50 to now.

Etymology

The station was formerly known as Mutiara FM and before that as ZHj Yayasan Wayarles Pulau Pinang.

History

The station started as ZHj Yayasan Wayarles Pulau Pinang operating of George Town, Penang on 24 August 1934. With the independence of Malaya on 31 August 1957 after its establishment the radio station Radio Malaya.

On 19 January 1971, Radio Malaya which was known as Stesen Pulau Pinang and Radio Stesen Pulau Pinang.

On 6 September 1989, Stesen Pulau Pinang and Radio Stesen Pulau Pinang was known as Radio 3 Pulau Pinang.

Mutiara FM adopts the easy listening and Oldies radio format with the majority of the playlist consisting of Easy listening and Oldies music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

On daily features easy listening and Oldies music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. On nighttime features Golden Oldies music from the 1950s and 1960s.

National Anthem

At midnight stroke every day along with all RTM national and regional radio stations the national anthem was play as the opening.
