Doroţcaia is a village from the Republic of Moldova, situated in Moldovan region of Transnistria (internationally recognised as part of the Republic of Moldova.

The village was a place of fighting during 1992 War of Transnistria. It is now under the control of the central authorities from Chişinău.

In 2002, in the village was moved the Romanian language school from Grigoriopol, which was not allow to function by secesionist authorities of Transnistria.

Political problems

Through Doroţcaia is passing the strategic road linking Tiraspol and Rîbniţa, and separatist authorities from Tiraspol want to control this road. 85% of Doroţcaia's farmland is over the road. Starting with 2003 Transnistrian authorities tried to prevent farmers of accessing their lands. Unable to harvest their crops, the farmers suffered serious losses.

This situation lead to an escalation of conflict between farmers and Transnistrian guards. OSCE mission was involved to find a temporary solution that allows farmers to access their land[1].
