Recent change explanation

[edit]

- This article should be renamed, the official name of the VBV is "video buffer verifier" not "video buffering verifier" (regarding to the ISO 13818-1 standart) Ma.fricke (talk) 12:41, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although ISO/IEC 13818-1 : 2000 does use "video buffer verifier", it only does so once, and refers the reader to ISO/IEC 13818-2. In ISO/IEC 13818-2 : 1995, the document consistently calls it "video buffering verifier", in section titles and the glossary of terms, and never calls it "video buffer verifier". Therefore I believe it's an error made in the 13818-1 document.
BTW, ISO/IEC 13818-1 and -2 are both MPEG-2 specs; in the MPEG-1 spec it's also referred to as "video buffering verifier". C xong (talk) 04:58, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- According to ISO/IEC 13818-2 Annex C, vbv buffer shall not overflow nor underflow except the case of low_delay. This requirement is true for both VBR and CBR.

- Since VBV is defined only in terms of video elementary stream, it's nothing to do with multiplexing. Multiplexers, however, have to follow the requirements of T-STD / P-STD, though. Motonari 23:02, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
