Request

I was contacted by a reference librarian at the Library of Congress. She asked me if I could delete the sentence:

The Desire of Ages was acclaimed by the United States Library of Congress in the 1950s as the most sought after book on the life of Christ.

She said that the Library does not endorse books at all and never did. So this sentence should be taken out because it's not true. I didn't want to simply remove it without an explanation. Please advise. --FeanorStar7 (talk) 23:24, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for passing that on – I have removed the sentence in question. A questionable statement like that needs a reference, per the official Wikipedia policy Wikipedia:Verifiability. Of course, one had not been given. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 10:52, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
