Spelling of surname

[edit]

This article has a redirect from Thomas Norreys. There appears to be confusion as to whether Wikipedia should adopt the spelling 'Norris' for the surname, rather than 'Norreys'. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography uses the spelling 'Norris', while noting that in the Tudor period members of the family used the spelling 'Norreys'. Most modern historians also seem to use the spelling 'Norris' for members of this family, particularly for the noted soldier Sir John Norris, and perhaps the spelling should be regularized on Wikipedia to 'Norris' for all members of this family during the Tudor and early Jacobean periods.
