Buggenhout is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Buggenhout proper and Opdorp. On January 1st, 2000 Buggenhout had a total population of 13,752 (6,808 males and 6,944 females). The total area is 25.47 km² which gives a population density of 539.93 inhabitants per km².
