September 1616 letter from Newfoundland

[edit]

Does anybody have a link to this letter? (first few paragraphs of the article) ??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Calixte (talkcontribs) 02:32, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Found it! see ref 1 in the article

I just went through the reference (Purchase). Page 930 is in the index and doesn't seem connected to anything. Purchas does mention Newfoundland and John Guy,and a lot of what he did up until 1612 or so, but nothing after that. I think the reference is bad. I would love to see a correct one, although September 1616 seems too early for Dermer to arrive.Jonathan Ames Fuller (talk) 17:54, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Jonathan Fuller[reply]

Thank you Jonathan. I will go over my notes and recheck that reference! Calixte 22:18, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Savages

[edit]

The word is jarring, but is only used in direct quotes from those there at the time. Even Dermer, who endeavored to make peace with the Native Americans, uses the word a several times. ' a meme for the times ' ??? Calixte 03:05, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
