' POLICE CONSPIRACY ' by John Osmond published by Y Lolfa isbn 0 86243 077 1

[edit]

I recently inserted a link to this page and I return to leave this comment because I find myself unhappy with it - but I do not care to try to recount the history of those I would refer to as " The Reds " or to analyse their politics other than to say that their analysis was a fairly straightforward form of Socialist Republicanism and I see no reason to allege that they fell apart as an organisation due there being contradictions between the two e.g. the Scottish Republican Socialist Movement was not subject to such trouble. In my opinion the Welsh Socialist Republican Movement collapsed in paranoia and confusion due to being infiltrated by a lone chancer who imagined that it could be militarised by a campaign of planting bombs, and then what followed were mass arrests in which the police forced identified members of the WSRM to sign fabricated confessions.

These facts were later fully exposed in the course of the trial - but this article does not expose these facts and it leads the reader to suppose that people other than that infiltrator were also guilty of causing the explosions ... this article as it stands 13 / 05 / 15 could be construed to be a libel - but rather than alter the front page myself I prefer to urge the composer of the page to read this book and to explain what happened to the Welsh Socialist Republican Movement rather better : it is a very interesting and politically instructive story.

I am very glad that I was not a WSRM member and caught up in it all - but myself and others were standing too damned close for comfort and nobody had a clue as onlookers upon their trial as to what was going on. It also ought to be remembered that hundreds of innocent people, WSRM members and otherwise, were being damned by association with this trial without ever even being charged.

I've bought a copy of the book and it's a great account of what happened, but I'd be happier if there were more sources to draw upon. John Osmond mentions a TV programme made by the BBC at the time, but I've not seen it. Extua (talk) 12:56, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
