Vendor section

There is currently a section of "notable" vendors for these products. This is not appropriate. Wikipedia is not a directory of vendors, is not a place for readers to shop, is not a resource for conducting business, and is not a catalog. See WP:NOTDIR, WP:NOTADVERTISING, WP:NOTCATALOG, WP:SPAM. etc. This has to go. Rlsheehan (talk) 15:03, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

For such a small article, the list of manufacturers is not inappropriate - I did remove the individual models to reduce the advertising/catalogue issues. In theory, someone could create the article List of Side-by-Side Manufacturers and it would pass AFD with flying colours. Let it stay here, and we won't have that problem. I disagree with both actions. "Notable" in this case means companies who have Wikipedia pages. In the past we've had additions of non-notable companies to this article. Question

Why is "Safety" the only topic? Such a fast-growing product category deserves more. many states classify UTVs are Type II ATVs. Minnesota and Utah for example defines this type of vehicle as "Motorized floatation tire vehichles with atlest 3, but no more then 6 low pressure tires. An engine size of under 1000ccs, and a total dry weight between 1000 and 1800 pounds."

original UTVs

the single seat John Deere AMT 600 was first built in 1986, the first 2 passanger Side by Sides where the John Deere AMT 622/626 and Kawasaki Mule both of which came out in 1988.

Yamaha Rhino was the first sport Side by Side in 2003.
