Creighton Michael
Creighton Michael, born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1949, is an American abstract artist known for his contributions to drawing.[1], painting, sculpture[2], and multimedia art. He earned his B.F.A. in painting from the University of Tennessee, his M.A. in art history from Vanderbilt University, and later received an M.F.A. in painting and multimedia from Washington University in St. Louis.

Michael has garnered recognition, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant[3], a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship in sculpture[4], a Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts award in painting[5], and an Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellowship[6]

Noteworthy additions include Embassy of the United States, Nairobi, U.S. Department of State, Permanent Collection[11], The Hafnarfjördur Centre of Culture and Fine Art in Iceland, High Museum of Art[12] in Atlanta, McNay Art Museum[13], in San Antonio, Texas, Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Denver Art Museum, and the Yale University Art Gallery[14] in New Haven, Connecticut, among others.

Academic Involvement:
With an extensive academic background, Michael has been on the faculty at Rhode Island School of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and Hunter College in New York City. He served as a visiting lecturer at Princeton University and conducted workshops at various institutions, including the Anderson Ranch Arts Center and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Professional Affiliations:
As a member of American Abstract Artists, Michael contributed to the art community, serving on the Board of Directors for the International Sculpture Center and the Board of Overseers at the Katonah Museum of Art.
