Add Singapore Dollar to Currencies

Brunei and Singapore have an agreement which allows the circulation of both currencies in both countries. 82.14.227.184 (talk) 08:55, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The etymology section needs work

an older (and possibly folk) etymology is supplied before the original (Sanskrit) etymology. 103.87.42.133 (talk) 04:13, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore dollar in the currency section of the infobox

According to this statement from the Monetary Authority of Singapore: https://www.mas.gov.sg/currency/brunei-singapore-currency-interchangeability-agreement

"Banks in both countries also accept for deposit, from the public and businesses, currency issued by the other country at par and without charge. Businesses and members of the public should not be concerned about accepting payments in Brunei currency. "

Given this information, is there any reason why the Brunei dollar shouldn't be listed as one of the currencies of Singapore in the infobox? Wkpdsrnm2023 (talk) 09:23, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, talk on the Singapore talkpage led me to understand that the currencies are accepted at banks but not generally by the public. Wkpdsrnm2023 (talk) 10:05, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 25 October 2023

The statement regarding Brunei having previously been ruled by Buddhists has a citation referring to an article by Nicholl (1980). I have not read the article in full, but it seems that the information as presented on Wikipedia is based on the view of 'Maharaji Karna' and probably also his 'grandfather or uncle' being a) Buddhist, something not argued clearly in the article b) a king of 'Brunei'. The latter aspect appears to be based on Nicholl's equivalence of 'P'o-li' with Brunei, a stance refuted by Kurz, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, in his article 'Pre-modern Chinese Sources in the National History of Brunei: The Case of Poli'. 192.76.8.74 (talk) 12:43, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The source can be read here. It is an argument combining the mentioned view of P'o-li with contemporary writings by the Portuguese in Malacca. I don't currently have access to the Kruz source mentioned, so I'm unsure what change exactly should be made. Presumably the rulers were of some religions before the spread of Islam in the region. At the same time, I'm not sure how it's relevant to the Name section. CMD (talk) 13:04, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Misspelling

“Defence” should be edited to “defense”. This is either atrocious spelling and/or very poor editing.Quite embarrassing, in my opinion. Read what you wrote (like a teacher is grading it!). 32.221.243.140 (talk) 18:15, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Defence is correct since this article is written in British English.

Does this article still include biased sources?

@Symmachus Auxiliarus: This article has a POV tag: which sources in the article are biased in favor of Brunei's government? Jarble (talk) 13:42, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
