there's been a dispute on the info box picture we need to fix it and agree on it, lets !vote. 4me689 (talk) 15:34, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have compiled a gallery of all the candidate images, Just sign under your choice(s) 4me689 (talk) 15:50, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Option 1

  1. 4me689 - this is a better picture overall, we always use younger photos when a person dies and he's actually looking at the camera so that's a plus.
  2. (Summoned by bot) This is a far superior photo. While old, it reflects Barker at the height of his career, Coretheapple (talk) 16:32, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  3. (invited by the bot) Later in his career would be fine (or even better) but Option 2 is a bad photo. North8000 (talk) 16:35, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Concur with others; photo quality & composition are better, younger age produces more distinct likeness, facing camera is always better. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 16:40, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Good photograph quality, better than the other. Psychologist Guy (talk) 16:41, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  6. (Summoned by bot) While I would disagree with the notion that "we always use black and white pictures when a person dies" - where did you get that from? - I agree that this photo is significantly more illustrative casualdejekyll 17:00, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    I fixed the wording 4me689 (talk) 17:10, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  7. The younger the star is, the more likely it will be in the infobox. Stephen"Zap" (talk) 20:01, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  8. Better quality and shows Barker at the height of his career. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 22:14, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  9. Agree with all of the above; nothing really to add other than the second picture is just horrid. Cheers, Last1in (talk) 12:37, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  10. Clearly the better option. Nemov (talk) 16:19, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  11. (Summoned by bot) Option 1 is a great pic and option 2 is not good, at all. voorts (talk/contributions) 21:36, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    What about this photo?
    https://sdexcellence.org/enwiki/w/images/c/ca/Bob_Barker_Picture.PNG 2604:3D09:6A85:6000:9D8F:53BD:2E1B:567C (talk) 17:51, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
no, because it's copyrighted and we already have a good portraits of Bob Barker here that are not copyrighted. 4me689 (talk) 21:40, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  12. According to MOS:IMAGEQUALITY, "A biography should lead with a portrait photograph of the subject." Option 1 seems to be the clear winner of these two choices. It's important, however, to include a picture of Bob Barker as The Price Is Right host elsewhere in the article, but not this particular one for the lead. Penguino35 (talk) 23:23, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Option 2

.

Discussion

@4me689 this is a good candidate for a WP:SNOW close. Nemov (talk) 13:52, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Nemov agreed, the vote is unanimous there is no reason to keep it open. 4me689 (talk) 13:54, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Barker’s death certificate, obtained by TMZ, says he died from Alzheimer’s Disease. This is no doubt worth adding. https://www.tmz.com/2023/09/05/bob-barker-cause-of-death-alzheimers-disease-price-is-right/ TheCorrectPanda (talk) 23:02, 5 September 2023 (UTC) TheCorrectPanda (talk) 23:02, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: If this is indeed accurate and worthy of inclusion, surely there is a more reliable source than TMZ? Pinchme123 (talk) 22:14, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A better source may be nbcnews [1] Psychologist Guy (talk) 23:20, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How I Met Your Mother Apperance

Bob Barker's apperance on the TV Show 'How I Met Your Mother' S2E20 'Showdown' (2007) should be added. Drezirale (talk) 06:05, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Was it any more significant than a one-off cameo? Have any sources discussed it beyond a cursory mention? DonIago (talk) 14:03, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
His actual appearance is in this episode. However, there is a running gag for seven of the nine sessions of the program that Bob Barker is the biological father of a major character of the show. Drezirale (talk) 10:50, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't address my second question. DonIago (talk) 13:33, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Correction to this page and the formation of the New Price is Right involving both Bob Barker and Dennis James. As the page reads currently, it is not accurate.

"In 1972 Dennis James did a presentation film with Mark Goodson in order to sell the "New Price is Right!" Mark wanted Dennis as both the Daytime and Syndicated (Nighttime) Host after seeing Dennis Host an episode of "Let's Make a Deal" when Monty Hall was ill. The Syndicated version of The New Price is Right was sold First! Most of the stations that picked up the Syndicated version were owned and operated by NBC! CBS then had an interest in Buying the Daytime version. They had two issues, they Owed Bob Parked a Show, per his contract with them and CBS did not want to use Dennis James and he was already perceived as the "NBC" Nighttime Host of the Show. Dennis served as Host of the Nighttime version for the full 5 years of the syndication deal with NBC." Bwj12 (talk) 18:12, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. DonIago (talk) 23:50, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The above paragraph should replace the first paragraph on the Barker Page under the Heading "The Price is Right Return 1972-2007. What is currently there is not accurate. Bwj12 (talk) 17:10, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I explained exactly what paragraph needs to be replaced with the new paragraph I wrote. I am a reliable source. I was there in 1972 and my father was Dennis James, who did the pilot for the New Price Is Right. Bwj12 (talk) 20:18, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Editors are not reliable sources. DonIago (talk) 20:56, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In television it needs to be added that he voiced the character bob barker's head on the episode of Futurama titled "The Lesser of Two Evils" Onceinamoon (talk) 14:02, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Another source if the above isn't accepted Onceinamoon (talk) 14:19, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Fandom and IMDB are both user-generated and not considered reliable sources on Wikipedia. Jamedeus (talk) 23:41, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Heres Another source. And I've seen imdb used as a source for other ones so it apparently is good enough a source. And wiki is user generated as well so not really a good enough reason to not use those sources thats basically pot calling kettle black. Just saying Onceinamoon (talk) 01:36, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
