BLINK is a 2024 Indian Kannada-language Musical Sci-Fi Thriller written and directed by Srindhi Bengaluru in his directorial debut, produced by Ravichandra A J under Janani Pictures. The film has an ensemble cast of Dheekshith Shetty, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Suresh Anagalli, Vajradheer Jain of Vikrant Rona fame, Mandara Battalahalli, Chaithra J. Achar and Kiran Naik in the lead roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Prasanna Kumar M S, while the cinematography is by Avinasha Shastry, with editing by Sanjeev Jagirdar.
The Movie is touted to be India's First Musical Sci-Fi Thriller.[1] The film was released on 8 March 2024.[2] The film received unanimous positive reviews from critics and audience.
Plot
In Bengaluru, Apoorva hides his failed MA from his village mom, relying on odd jobs and Swapna's support. His peculiar ability and a mysterious old man unravel his father's survival, leading to a surreal quest for truth amidst replicas and enigmatic motives.

Production
Dheekshit and Srinidhi who began their career in Theatre joined hands for a feature film which was announced in May 2022.[3] In his speech Srinidhi told “I got the idea to direct a film during the lockdown when I was watching a lot of movies."[4] They added seasoned as well as new talents to their cast. They released a Unique video Intro for the lead characters.[5][6] Ravichandra A J who was a Techie from Gulbarga turned producer after being interested in films and collaborated with Srinidhi Bengaluru, both of whom were connected through Stage Drama's.[7]
The shooting of the film was wrapped in December 2022.[8]
Soundtrack
Prasanna Kumar M S has composed the film's background and scored for its soundtrack. The Verse "Aadi Baa" from the teaser enthralled the audience and the team went to release a DJ Remix version of the same. The Song "Sakhi" was digitally released by many leading female actors of the Industry.[9]

Marketing
The team started making waves from its first release of Teaser on 23 March 2022. The Intrigue element in the Teaser made the audience curious with many praising for its out of the box idea.[10] The team then released a glimpse of the lead characters of Dheekshit Shetty, Chaithra J. Achar, Mandara Battalhalli, Suresh Angalli on their birthday. The Trailer of the Movie was released digitally on 29 February 2024 by many leading Kannada Actors and Filmmakers.
The team also released a special tribute trailer to Alferd Hitchcock. [11]
Release and reception
Initially slated for a 2023 release, the film was postponed and released on 8 March 2024 in limited screens across Karnataka.[12] The film is also set to release overseas in the coming days.
Pranati AS of Deccan Herald rated the movie 4 out of 5 and wrote "Blink is not an ordinary commercial film. It is brilliantly written. The time travel narrative plays out seamlessly along with music, poetry and theatre".[13]
Vivek MV of The Hindu wrote "Helped by brilliant performances from Dheekshith Shetty, Gopalkrishna Deshpande and Chaithra J Achar, and enough twists, ‘Blink’ is a solid drama that holds our attention throughout its runtime".[14]
Shashiprasad S M of Times Now in his review described the movie as "A one-of-a-kind Kannada sci-fi thriller, which deserves appreciation for its efforts, particularly for the unique journey it embarks on, showcasing a completely different cinematic world".[15]
Prathiba Joy of OTTPlay rated the movie 3.5/5 and wrote "Dheekshith Shetty's sci-fi flick is a bold and engaging take on Oedipus".[16]
A Sharadhaa of The New Indian Express in her review described the movie as "A riveting sci-fi thriller about time and fate" with praise for lead characters and the Director.[17]
Sunayana Suresh of The South First rated the movie 4 out of 5 and termed "This brilliant narrative is akin to a Greek tragedy told on LSD". "Blink is a film that will definitely have you going what the hell did happen as you reach the climax, as even if you might have guessed something, there is something bolder and audacious lying in store for you. This film will draw a reaction from everyone, and that is its major win.[18]
Y Maheswara Reddy of Bangalore Mirror termed the movie "Time for Time Travel - the movie is worth a watch for time travel buffs." and appreciated the debutant director for bold script selection.[19]
Madan Kumar of TV9Kannada rated the movie 4/5 and in his detailed review wrote the story of the play 'Oedipus Rex' is in the movie 'Blink'. This play is performed in different languages. There have been many experiments in theater as well. In this movie, an attempt is made to introduce Oedipus to Kannada cinema in a new way by choosing the same story. Movies like 'Pre Destination', 'Ranganayaki', 'Pulp Fiction' are definitely remembered while watching 'Blink'. The director has not hidden that he was inspired by those movies. Their posters have been made visible in the middle of the story of 'Blink'. Overall, this movie is sure to give a special experience. with a praise for all the departments of the team.[20]
Sridevi S of The Times of India in her review wrote "For aficionados of sci-fi thrillers, "Blink" is a must-watch on the big screen. However, be warned: excessive blinking might cause you to miss pivotal plot details!".[21]
Priya Kerwashe of Asianet Suvarna wrote "A time traveling story set in theater and Don't blink your eyes in-between. If you do, it will be difficult to connect to the story again and miss a subtle plot of the story."[22]
