Oba 'Olusola Idris Osolo (Otenibotemole II) (born August 27, 1988) is the 41st and current Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo. He is the traditional ruler and monarch of the Yoruba kingdom of Ado-Odo. He ascended to the throne of his forebears on 9 February 2024, succeeding the deceased Oba Abdul-Lateef Adeniran Akanni Ojikutujoye I who was the 40th Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo
Ancestry
Ọba Otenibotemole II was born in to the Osolo family of the Okewaye Ruling House, one of the four ruling house in Ado-Odo. His father, the late Musiliu Olatunji Lamidi, served as an Assistant Commissioner of Police until his passing in April 1998 and was descended from Oba Asade Awope Otenibotemole (1884–1913).[1] His mother, Alhaja Azeezat Omolola Lamidi (Nee Agbogunlori), is a prominent figure, holding the positions of Otun Iyaloja and Otun Iya Adinni of Ado-Odo. Prince Olusola is currently the Olofin Adimula Oodua(.[2]
Early life
His academic journey commenced in 1992 at Alamuwa Nursery and Primary School, Ado-Odo, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1998. He furthered his studies at St Stephen's Comprehensive High School, Ado-Odo, graduating from secondary education in June 2004.
He pursued higher education at Lagos State Polytechnic, where he earned a National Diploma (ND) in Business Studies in 2012 and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marketing in 2016. Continuing his educational pursuits, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Crescent University, Abeokuta , in 2023. Currently, he is enrolled in a master's degree program in Political Science at the University of Lagos.
He commenced his professional career as a Trade Manager with Skystream Global Concept Limited while simultaneously pursuing his ND and HND qualifications. Following the completion of the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Ekiti State in 2017, he served as a Business Development Officer at Gramz Investment and Assets Limited. Subsequently, he ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing his own company, Plot4 Mega Services.
Professional and Career
As a committed professional, He is affiliated with prestigious professional associations, including the National Institute of Marketing, Nigeria (NIMN), where he obtained a Chartered Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (PGD). He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (MCIHRM) and holds the title of Certified Personnel Manager (CPM), being a Member of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria (IPMA).
Dedicated to continuous improvement, He has pursued various personal, professional, and leadership training and certifications. Through the Young African Leaders Initiative, he has earned professional development certificates from the US Department of State in Responsible Leadership on Transparency and Good Governance, Fundamentals of Responsible Leadership for Entrepreneurs, Workforce Collaboration and Development, Community Organizing for Action, Basics of Public-Private Partnerships, Fundamentals of Business Expansion, and Servant Leadership, among others. He has also received training in management strategies for people and resources, as well as in developing, monitoring, and supporting youth leadership.
His career trajectory, advancing from a Trade Manager to a Business Development Officer, and ultimately becoming an entrepreneur, demonstrates his ability to excel and lead in various professional capacities. Furthermore, his fulfilling family life, as a happily married father of three, underscores his leadership qualities in maintaining robust interpersonal relationships and effectively balancing personal and professional commitments.
Selection and Coronation
In a bid to determine the rightful heir to the revered position of Olofin Adimula Oodua, Olofin Olusola Osolo was nominated among other 14 indigenes from the Okewaye ruling house of Ado-Odo who were also heirs to the throne. The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in conjunction with the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, orchestrated an election on Friday, February 9, 2024.[3] The election was meticulously conducted in accordance with legal provisions, aimed at ensuring a fair and transparent process.
Among the contestants, he emerged victorious, garnering the majority of votes cast. His win was not just a personal triumph but a testament to his standing within the community and his commitment to upholding traditional values and leadership principles. He received his oath of office on March 30, 2024.
