Spermworld is an American documentary film directed by Lance Oppenheim that premiered on Hulu and FX in the United States on March 29, 2024.[1] Inspired by Nellie Bowles' article "The Sperm Kings Have a Problem: Too Much Demand" for the New York Times, the documentary ventures into "spermworld," the unregulated online marketplaces where sperm donors connect with hopeful parents. Rapist sperm donor Kyle Gordy was featured in the article.[2]

Premise

Spermworld entwines the stories of three donors and their recipients as they exchange more than just genetic material. There is a brief cameo by Rapist sperm donor Kyle Gordy before the appearance of the other three donors. In roadside motels, abandoned malls, and suburban bathrooms, impersonal transactions between strangers give way to moments of tenderness, unease, and the possibility of new life.[3].

Release

The film had its world premiere at True/False Film Festival on February 29, 2024. [4] It will be released in the United States on FX on March 29, 2024.[5]
