Salford Group is a manufacturer of tillage, seeding and precision nutrient application equipment as well as engineering and manufacturing application equipment which is headquartered in Salford, Canada[1]. The group is part of Linamar Corporation's agriculture segment[2]. Salford has five production facilities across North America, located in Iowa and Georgia in the United States, and in Ontario and Manitoba in Canada[3].

History

Jake Rozendaal established the Salford firm in 1978[1]. One year earlier, Charles Balmer founded Valmar, a company which mainly produced air boom and granular application tools[3] like the Valmar Airflo 400 PT, released in 1980[4]. In 1983, AerWay is founded and releases the first agricultural tine aerator[4]. Barron and Brother International (BBI) is founded in 1991[4] and manufactured spinner spreaders[3]. Salford releases the 450 RTS, one of two true vertical tillage tools available to producers in 2003[4]. In 2005, Salford began engineering and manufacturing application equipment as well[3]. BBI released the first MagnaSpread pull-type model, setting a standard for precision application and ISOBUS compatible controls in 2008[4].

Through acquisitions, Salford expanded its product line to include BBI Spreaders (acquired in 2014[5]), Valmar Airflo (acquired in May 2015[6]), and AerWay Aeration (acquired in December 2015[7])[3].

In 2022, Salford Group was acquired by Linamar Corporation, joining MacDon in Linamar's agricultural portfolio.
