Wikipedia talk:Citation needed
You are probably on the wrong page. If you want to suggest a change to a Wikipedia article, then you need to go to that article's own talk page. Every Wikipedia article has a separate talk page. You can find the one you need by going back to the article, and clicking on the "Talk" tab above the article's title. |
This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Citation needed page. |

In the intro section, change the |link=Wikipedia:Citation needed to |link=Wikipedia:Citations needed, with an extra s.
Rationale: That paragraph currently renders as
Example: 87 percent of statistics are made up on the spot.[citation needed]
While it's technically correct that sticking a citation needed tag on this page would render like that (links to the current page are transformed into bold), it's not the correct answer to the question that paragraph intends to answer, namely how they render in practice (i.e. in article space).
I'm not aware of any magic wiki syntax to forcibly link to the current page, but linking to a redirect to the current page will render as a link. (Alternatively, there are half a dozen other redirects to here, if you don't like Citations.)

- Done and tested. ...and that's a good catch and neat fix. Thanks! --N8wilson 19:20, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Mistake in the lead section
The second paragraph says, "You can add a citation by selecting from the Cite drop-down menu". But it should be changed to "Insert drop down menu" because that is where I found the option after searching in templates. The Cite menu just has the usual three options- Automatic, Manual and Re-use. Is this a mistake in the lead section that needs to be corrected or am I missing something here? Add a link to Wikipedia:WikiProject Reliability in the "See also" section. Category:Articles with unsourced statements, the category for articles with {{Citation needed}}, has a link to the WikiProject, so it should be linked on this page too. Ijoe2003 (talk) 07:52, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
