Alessandro Francesconi (born January 15, 2000) is in Italian chess Arena Grandmaster (2024).

Career

He played in several Italian championships. In 2021, he took 10th in Milan. In 2022, he tied for 9th [1] in Naples. That same year, he reached 1st in Lecce and he tied for 3rd in Trento.[2]

He represented Italy once in Chess Olympiads.[3]

In 2021, he achieved notable results including a 3rd place finish at the Venice Open and a tie for 2nd in the Milan Masters. He represented Italy on the second reserve board at the 2022 Chess Olympiad, scoring a +4 –1 =2 record. He earned the Arena Grandmaster title in 2023..[4]

In 2024, he scored an upset win over Javier Hernandez Fernandez, after he made a rare blunder.[5]
