Comment

[edit]

@ Can you prove that neven was born not in banja luka but in Prnjavor ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.173.252.56 (talk) 15:53, 3 September 2008 (UTC) Yoda1893 why do you keep deleting the fact that he is of Serbian decent? I can find you a thousands of sites( in German, Serbian, English) which state that he is Serb by ethnicity. You can offer me only obscure little site which states that he is Croat. What is your problem Yoda1893? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Serbov (talkcontribs) 16:23, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His father is a Serb and his mother is Croatian. I am from the city where he lived in Germany. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.173.186.44 (talk) 21:19, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you deliberately spreading lies? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Serbov (talkcontribs) 16:26, 14 September 2008 (UTC) No he did not confirm that in that interview and you know it perfectly well. They only said: You are between Croatia, Bosnia and Germany. He did not confirm anything. In the press they described Nemanja Vidic, Novak Djokovic and Milorad Cavic as Croats. But that is not truth. I have told you that i can offer you a thousand of sites which state that he is Serb. You can offer me only one. You are hypocritical. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Serbov (talkcontribs) 16:34, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What press are you talking about? Have a look at wikipedia and you will find out that all persons you mentioned are Serbs.
—Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.173.201.247 (talk) 19:47, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He is an ethnic Croatian. He confirmed this in this interview! Propaganda won't change this! Yoda1893 (talk) 16:41, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When they make an interview with him he would have corrected the information if he won't be Croatian. Yoda1893 (talk) 16:43, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And here is another source! It's from a page made by the fans of his club! There is also his Croatian origin confirmed! Yoda1893 (talk) 16:48, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And at least Serbians didn't have to leave Banja Luka. But his family fled to Germany because of their Croatian origin. Yoda1893 (talk) 17:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So, you can find me thousands of sites (in German, Serbian, and English) which state that he is Serb by ethnicity. I would appreciate if you could present me simply just one serious source. And once again, I don’t care if he is Croatian, Bosnian, German or Serbian, but soon he will be playing for one of those States and I guess, the winner won’t be Serbia.--Speidelj (talk) 19:17, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After eight years it turned out, that you guessed wrong. He played for the Serbian national team a couple of times. Probably because he's Croatian... :-) And yes, you do care about this nationality, otherwise you wouldn't be writing about it.--87.184.139.176 (talk) 14:25, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
From: http://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/67/310000/text/vom 13.Sep.2008--Speidelj (talk) 20:40, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course i can offer you thousands of proofs that he is Serb. But i will not bother writing all those articles. Instead this is the best proof that he is Serb:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvaGrZyUwv8 Right from the horses mouth. He says the he speaks SERBIAN with his teammate Kuba as Polish and Serbian are similar. I hope that you understand German because you do not understand English ( or you do not want to). Maybe i should switch to Spanish and French,a? So can one of you guys now step forward and enlighten me?--89.111.196.165 (talk) 11:44, 22 September 2008 (UTC)--Serbov (talk) 11:49, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Look here:Can speak both German and Croatian Maybe he speaks Serbian AND Croatian. Yoda1893 (talk) 11:02, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile he played for the Serbian national football team. So it's pretty clear that he speaks Serbian (and maybe Croatian).--87.184.139.176 (talk) 14:45, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war

[edit]

I don't think, bloking Serbov (talkcontribs) will resolve this edit was. He'll edit under an IP or create a new account. And here I can understand the problem, I think. This is about race and nationality. Maybe someone should try to explain it a second (or third) time and protect the article. My 2 cents. Sebastian scha. (talk) 10:10, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't read source number 1 but in source 2 the (title = Interview with Neven Subotić | date = 2008-06-06 | work = faz.net) there is not one word about his ethnicity - Germans today will never use it - so please remove the part in the brackets "(his country by ethnicity)" or remove the source. Sebastian scha. (talk) 10:26, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, I do think the page needs to be protected because an anonymous IP has already popped up and changed things. If it is changed in the next 24 hours, I'll request protection. For the record, Serbov's own behavior got him banned and he was advised to stop removing sourced content....repeatedly. I think his behavior last night was a bit more demonstrative than usual which lead to his block. Truth be told, he called attention to himself when he left a note on my talk page after I reverted an anonymous IP's unexplained removal of content. He conveniently left out that no one agreed with his sources or his version of the facts. He also called another user a liar and a vandal. To top it off, he also left a lovely message on my user page (which he quickly apologized for because he didn't realize I'm a female...whatever that means) after he proceeded to ignore my advise and warnings. Before I had a chance to report him, an admin stepped in and blocked. I think the block was a good call judging from the user's history of POV pushing. The type of behavior he exhibited last night does not indicate any kind of good faith in my opinion. Pinkadelica (talk) 06:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity

[edit]

Can you please put that part with his ethnicity away? Because it's hard to believe that he is a Croat, when his father wants him to play for Serbia, like he said in this article below and so many others in Serbian media.

http://www.goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=906299

It would be the best to forget the whole ethnicity part. No one, except his parents(btw I've read somewhere that his father is from Serbian and his mother from Croatian decent, but can't find the article anymore) and himself know the truth. Let's just say, that his ethnicity is not cleared up yet and he could play for both, Croatia and Serbia. Perhaps that would stop the edit war too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Delantero009 (talkcontribs) 07:19, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've been bold and deleted all this nationalism, changed the German citizenship to subjunctive--as stated in the article of bild (my personal POV is that bild is NOT reliable; it's low yellow press, known to fake interviews etc.)--and added the above presented ref about Serbia. I hope everbody could live with it. Sebastian scha. (talk) 15:00, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that could have been a good good solution, but it didn't last long. The article has been edited again. But it's funny to see that according to Hubschrauber729, the last editor, goal.com isn't a reliable source. Okay, no problem, how about other sources?
Reliable enough for all? I mean, come on, Hamburger Abendblatt, Focus and Handelsblatt wouldn't print nonsense without verification. I think they even took the article from the dpa. Reliable enough? Stay by the facts. His ethnicity is not cleared up yet, that's it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Delantero009 (talkcontribs) 05:37, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
the reference *http://www.USA/BiH/Serbia/or/Germany?/Sportnet.hr]] is a fake. The original title runs: "SAD, BiH, Hrvatska ili Njemačka?" which means USA, BiH, Croatia or Germany. Unbelievable, but the fraud was made by user 83.248.165.157 (Talk) on Oct.the 8th, 18:28 hours.--Speidelj (talk) 19:46, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
“ Neven Subotic nema srpski pasos, ali ima snaznu zelju i volju da zaigra za srpsku reprezentaciju. S obzirom na to o kakvom se fudbalskom potencijalu radi, pasos nece biti problem, iako on nije ni roden u Srbiji, niti je ziveo u nasoj zemlji.“ O-Ton von Karadzic vom 9.Jan.2009: (has no Serbian passport, …. not born in Serbia, and has never lived in ouer country) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.16.136.18 (talk) 23:25, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hahahah passport will not be a problem. He has already got a passport and we are awaiting FIFA permission. He is already on the list of players called up for Cyprus tournament. [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.250.44.50 (talkcontribs) 10:44, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, your source is wrong, official list does not have his name.[2] Matthew_hk tc 16:02, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hahaha are you serious? That is the list of our U21 team! [3] This is the correct list of our A team.[4] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.250.9.159 (talk) 10:53, 8 February 2009

Not yet made his debut, again. Matthew_hk tc 23:57, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-warring

[edit]

I see that there is a lot of edit-warring going on at this article right now. Please be aware that edit wars are completely ineffective when it comes to deciding article content. Instead, please follow steps at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. Especially important is to discuss things at the article talkpage as soon as it is apparent that there is a dispute.
