Liv Golf Teams
Liv Golf League, a Saudi-backed international golf tour, is a new tour consisting of some of the highest-ranked golfers in the world. Liv Golf is notably unique for its 54-hole competition (hence the Roman numerals LIV being the name of the tour)*Citation 1, and team aspect, unusual for competing golf tours.
How it Works
Each team creates a cumulative score over the 3-day, 54-hole tournament. This occurs based on the performance of the players on the teams, 4 per team. In 2023, the first truly completed season, there were 12 teams *Livgolf citation. In 2024, the league is on their way with 13 teams, Legion XIII being the new one captained by world number 3 John Rahm *citation #4. All four players' scores will contribute to the team score regardless of how well or poorly they play, and the top eight teams out of the field will earn points in the team standings *liv golf citation. There is a team championship at the end of the season, after the 13 tournaments played throughout the year. They compete for a $14 million dollar prize for first place. The top four seeds receive a bye to the semi finals, being 4Aces GC, Crushers GC, Torque GC, and Range Goats GC in 2023. The remaining 8 teams compete in the quarter finals, with the match ups being determined by the the highest ranked teams. Of the 32 players out of these 8 teams, they play the quarter finals friday, playing two singles matches and one foursome match. Each match is worth 1 point, first team with two points then goes on to the semi finals with the top four teams *Ciation 4 espn.
TEAMS
4Aces Golf Club
4Aces GC consists of 4 players: Dustin Johnson, Pat Perez, Patrick Reed, and Harold Varner III. However, last season this wasn't the case as Varner III took Peter Uihlein's spot *Citation 2. The 4 American-born players. The 4Aces won the first-ever Liv Golf season in 2023, totaling 192 points. They placed first in April during the Adelaide tournament, and again in July during the London tournament. Their captain, Dustin Johnson, placed overall 5th in the entire league individually, contributing 125 points. Patrick Reed placed 6th overall, contributing 123, followed by Peter Uihlein placing 12th and contributed 121. Pat Perez came in 28th out of the 50 golfers, totaling 47 points. *liv golf citation.
Cleeks Golf Club
Cleeks GC consists of 4 players: Martin Kaymer, Richard Bland, Graeme McDowell, and Kalle Samooja. In 2023 Bern Wisenberger was on the team in place of Samooja *citation 3. Crushers GC consists of 4 players: Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, and Anirban Lahiri. In 2023 Bern Wisenberger was on the team in place of Samooja *citation 3. The Crushers came in 2nd, out of 12 teams, in 2023. They totaled 186 points. Their best performances were in February during the Mayakoba tournament where they placed first, alongside their end of the year preformance in Chicago during september where they placed 1st as well. Their captain, Bryson DeChambeau, placed overall 4th in the entire league individually, contributing 149 points. Legion XIII consists of 4 players: John Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Kieran Vincent, and Caleb Surratt. In 2023 Bern Wisenberger was on the team in place of Samooja *citation 3. Legion XIII is a new franchise, becoming the 13th LIV Golf team. The team was assembled by captain JohN Rahm, ranked 3rd in the world at the time of the team creation. *citation 4
