Music Video
The music video begins with frontman Adam Lazzara being hooked up to a lie detector. As a closeup of the reading of the lie detector begins, images of a key, a plane, and a spider are drawn out. Next is drawn Lazzara himself as the detector stops. It begins again with Lazzara's image being removed, then to be replaced. Following it of him singing is Fred Mascherino singing and playing guitar, followed with Lazzara a couple more times and other band members singing and playing their instrument.
The next drawing is of a woman, where it then zooms in to her and shows her walking while Lazzara is singing. After showing the woman with a mask on, the band gives cheers with their glasses full of wine while a plane flies overhead. The camera shoots to the plane, where Lazzara is seen singing on the wing and the woman opening a safe on the flipside of the wing.
After the band plays the chorus on a stage, it is shown that the stage is actually the top of an open safe, where the woman is climbing into. Lazzara is then shown placing his open hand on the camera, leaving a handprint. Zooming in on the print, Lazzara is seen spinning his microphone on a large key. A plane goes by, where Lazzara is seen in the window swallowing a key. The woman is then seen crawling and being turned into a spider while the band plays.
The band is then seen after a toast, with everyone but Lazzara walking off. A spider is seen dropping in behind Lazzara as he stands. A woman is then seen sitting on top of a safe, and the camera zooms in to her fishnet tights, which resemble a large spider web. The band members are seen playing their instruments while stuck on the web, while Lazzara is being dragged off by the spider. The last image on the lie detector machine is of the woman stomping on the spider, and the lasting image of her pose.
The camera zooms out of the lie detector's reading to see Lazzara being interrogated while hooked up to the machine. Behind the glass wall (which cannot be seen through on Lazzara's side), are four men in suits, the band members. Bassist Matt Rubano says, "So what do you think?" Guitarist/Vocalist Fred Mascherino replies, "I don't believe a word of it."
The song refers to the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding. The reference is made when Adam say's "We're just choirboys at best, intrusive and arrogant". This is referring to Jack and the choirboys, who intrude on the island and cause chaos and disregard the attempted help from Ralph. It's also refers to the book with the line, "Then back on that island that you swear by....It's still a question of how long will this hold." This is referring to the island that the boys are stranded on, and how long will it take for the chaos to appear.
