Gross

How much did this tour gross? The gross was 100 Million USD People attending were 3 million people.

A side note Every Michael Jacksson figure if not official is exagerated. In 1992 he played 2 shows at the Olympic stadium im Stochholm It says there came 55 000 0r 56 000 people per show at a stadium that has a capacity of 33 000 people. The record for Concerts at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm is ny the Rolling Sones 35 200 People. I remember Michael Jackson did not sell out both shows. So what says 56 000 a concert should be 28 000 people. Noone else than the people living in Stockholm will notice this off course and Olympic Stadium sounds nice. But its a lie. Bruce Springsteen has played there 8 times. Every time there was 33 000 people in the audience and completely sold out. The first time he came to tockholm was in 1988 when he played 2 shows with 33 000 people at each concert and a total of 66 000 people. That was the tour he sold 500 000 tickets to a concert in East Berlin. He set the record for attendance at a conncert at Wembley Stadium with 80 000 People. At that point 1988 Bruce was bigger than Michael Jackson. He could have played 7 Wembley Stadium shows as well, but Wembley only allowed a certain amount of concerts a year and Bruce got too late to Book the Stadium. Before they knew it was allready booked the plan was to play 5 Wembley Stadium concerts with an option of 7. That was the tour seeing Bruce ending the Tour at Camp Nou Europes biggest football stadium with 95 000 people in attendance. Michael Jackson did not get close to that number of people at the same stadium. Bruce played to 80 000 People at the Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris. Bruce did a tour of 5 months with 67 concerts. A very short tour. But it was seen by 3,2 million people. The gross venue was 82 million USD for those 67 Shows. A lot higher Gross value per concert than Michael Jackson had on his tour from 1987 to 1989. Had Bruce played 123 Shows like Michael jackson he would have earned 152 milliom USD against Michael Jacksons 125 Million USD. Also because of the fact that Bruce Springsteen was more popular than Michael Jackson in 1988 he had a Guarantee fee of 95 % of ticket sales ( a world recoed at the time). Michael Jackson had a guarantee fee of 50 % of ticket sales. Meaning Bruce would get almost double the amount of money that Michael Jackson got at the same stadium with the same amount of people. Because of enormous Merchandize a high percentage on his records sold Bruce earned 157 million USD Between October 1987 and January 1989. 157 Million USD in less than 15 months. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.89.143.63 (talk) 12:36, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

sources

The entire article is full of unreferenced numbers and trivia. I have tagged it for sources, yet editors ignore this and keep introducing unreferenced figures. I am going to start removing the most offending things - attendance and income numbers, which keep changing every day since no source is provided, and with time move to everything else which is unreferenced . Please don't re-introduce things without specifying a reliable source. --Muhandes (talk) 06:50, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Yankee Stadium in March?

According to the article, several shows were scheduled for early to mid March 1994 at Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field. Scheduling outdoor shows during the winter in New York City and Chicago seems like a risky move even by Michael Jackson standards. Is there a source for this information? Timothy Horrigan (talk) 19:28, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

I think that this information is not accurate, because there are not strong enough information that the Dangerous tour would have been extended into 1994.

And even if that was true, there would have been at least a 6 month vacation for Michael Jackson. Because I have analyzed his touring habits and between the different legs (with many concerts during one leg) he usually took 5-6 months of vacation (especially during the Dangerous and History tours). So, the 1994 leg would probably have started in May or in June 1994. Some editors have added cancelled dates from June and July 1994, but these dates and locations are seemingly false, because exactly the same locations and dates were previously listed as March and April 1994 dates, which is also nonsense. Lassoboy (talk) 13:16, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Audience attendance figures.

Nowadays it is very difficult to give proven and accurate information about the audience attendance figures during the Dangerous tour.

I please you not to write attendance figures into this article, because I have seen many different numbers and I am of the opinion that the attendance numbers should be therefore excluded.

For example:

1) Dangerous tour in Romania, Bucharest: 70 000, 100 000, which is correct?

2) Dangerous tour Mexico: 100 000, 105 000, 110 000, which is correct?

3) Dangerous tour Ludwigshafen, Germany: 3000, 30 000, 32 000, which is correct? I bet that 3000, which is quite widespread answer, is wrong, because a touring promoter with a common sense would not take Michael Jackson to a stadium with a 3000 seat capacity.

Before the renovation in 2007, Südweststadion could handle 30 000-41 000 people! So guys, do some thinking. Michael Jackson aint gonna play for 3000 people only, this would be nonsense.

Super Bowl XXVII halftime show

I would count this phenomenal show as a part of the Dangerous World Tour. Why? You ask.

First of all, I like the number "70" more than "69", because Michael had to cancel many many concerts during this tour because of several problems and setbacks and this tour would have last much much longer.

Secondly, you probably know that Michael Jackson performed some more shows in 1993 like The 52nd Presidential Inaugural Gala, Soul Train Awards, American Music Awards. But these shows were meant for a very small, private and privileged audience, but the Super Bowl show took place in a stadium, in a very large stadium and Michael also played the Dangerous Tour medley during this show. It was also one of his very important career peaks next to Motown 25!

And added to this: I have seen some wikipedia articles, where such shows like Super Bowl halftime show has been counted as a touring show in performers` touring pages. See, for example: Rolling Stones, A Bigger Bang tour: 5 February 2006 Detroit Super Bowl XL Ford Field.

Please, let`s make HIStory and honour Michael Jackson as a phenomenal live and touring artist and give him his 70 solid Dangerous World Tour concerts, which took place in 1992-1993. This number would have been much higher, if there had not been such setbacks as there were back in 1993. Lassoboy (talk) 17:00, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

I Agree!

How to read the tour dates of this article, recommendations.

Me and some other guys (thank you very much!!!) have done lots of work to build this article as a whole. My main interest was the tour dates.

My main goal was to present as much information as I could during my researches. One of my subgoals was to present the dates in this article as of how they would have been if MJ was not often ill in 1992 and not ill and discriminated in 1993.

For example, I added Gelsenkirchen, Basel, Istanbul and Athens to the dates list, because we have strong evidences that if MJ was not ill at the time, these concerts would have for sure taken place.

Venice, Liverpool, Sevilla and Stuttgart were in the works at some point, but were suspended. So, when the tour started in June 1992, these places had already been taken out of the touring list.

In 1993, MJ had to cancel many concerts due to ill health and discrimination. Me and some other guys have made a list of the many cancelled, banned and rescheduled concerts based on the information what is out there. This list is not complete of course, as you see. You can help us to make it better at any time.

One more important aspect: I have tried to perfect the 1993 tour list as above in the 1992 dates section. For example, Hong Kong shows would have definitely taken place, if there were no racing season at the rescheduling time back in August 1993. But the Johannesburg concerts would likely have not been taken place due to the fact that this place was not politically stable at the time, there were some serious contract issues and so on. The first Chile and Lima concerts were cancelled because of MJ`s ill health. So, if MJ would have been fine, these concerts would have for sure taken place. But Rio de Janeiro was likely taken out before the South American tour started in October 1993 (we do not know why).

Generally writing, that was my logic while improving this article.

Adding new information, dates, etc.

YOU MUST HAVE SOURCES! YOU HAVE TO PROVE YOUR INFORMATION!

If I see that you add any information or dates without sources, it will be deleted.

For example, many fans mistakenly think that MJ would have toured in 1994 if there were no allegations. This is untrue as long as you cannot give us sources which prove this information.

We have information (MJ told it himself) that his goal was to raise 100 million dollars by December 1993. So, we take it as the last month of the tour. If you can prove that the tour would have lasted longer, please give us the sources.

We are also of the opinion that this tour would not have reached to the USA nor Canada. If you think that this is wrong, please prove it.

Thank you! Lassoboy (talk) 08:55, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Removal of Super Bowl show from tour date list?

Does the Super Bowl show really need to be included on the list of tour dates? I think it doesn't:

1) The Super Bowl show was over 4 times shorter than a standard "Dangerous Tour" concert, with a significantly reduced setlist including only a handful of songs, as opposed to the full, two-hour show typical of the Dangerous Tour. The regular set, stage, and effects/illusions were not in use.

2) The concert was never, in any way, promoted or marketed as part of the Dangerous Tour. It was a halftime show at the Super Bowl (a completely unrelated event). Tickets were never sold advertising the show as part of the Dangerous Tour. The show was never referred to as part of the Dangerous Tour - it was referred to as the halftime show for the Super Bowl.

For these reasons, I think the Super Bowl show needs to be removed from the tour dates list and not considered part of the Dangerous Tour. I would be grateful if somebody could approve this action. :) Sylvestermccoyfan7 (talk) 13:01, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

I've been asked to create a section on this talk page although I already have. You can't count the Super Bowl show as part of the tour. It was never marketed as part of the tour, it was nothing like the rest of the tour visually. It was about ten minutes long. You can't say a ten-minute-long set that wasn't even marketed as a Michael Jackson concert is the same as a two-hour Michael Jackson concert. It just isn't. Sylvestermccoyfan7 (talk) 19:41, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Tour dates

You CAN NOT include cancelled concerts in the Tour Dates section. There's a reason why there is a "Rescheduled/Cancelled Shows" section - to list the CANCELLED OR RESCHEDULED SHOWS. The whole point of the Tour Dates section is to list the actual TOUR DATES. Cancelled shows don't count as tour dates, because they DIDN'T HAPPEN. You can include the Super Bowl show if you want, but surely you can see it's not right to include shows that didn't happen in the tour date section. Sylvestermccoyfan7 (talk) 19:43, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Well, I and only me created all this page as it is, so I can do what I want and so far everything is in accordance with the wikipedia rules. :) Nobody is complaining, except you. Sorry, my friend. Peace! Lassoboy (talk) 17:33, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm sure "I made this page, I run this page, I can do whatever I like on this page" isn't the best attitude to have, but if you want to be that childish, and keep reporting misleading/wrong information, that's great. Sylvestermccoyfan7 (talk) 14:43, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

My aim is to create the tour dates catalog as it would have been if MJ had not been accused of things back in 1993. Because of that bullshit he cancelled many concerts in 1993. And I have never given any misleading information regarding this. But I understand your point of things. Lets see what future will bring. Lassoboy (talk) 06:34, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Planned to perform in North America?

There were rumors in the past that the Dangerous World Tour was scheduled to perform in North America. Is this true or false? 173.54.179.139 (talk) 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Why don't you go find published sources discussing this issue? Remember, Wikipedia is built on WP:SECONDARY sources. Binksternet (talk) 21:30, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Cancelled shows should be indicated or listed in a separate section

This tour schedule includes shows that were cancelled due to illness, which gives the misleading impression that Jackson actually performed. There were several cancelled shows because Jackson often fell sick during this tour. It would be much more informative, to say nothing of honest, to either mark these dates as "cancelled (due to illness)" or remove them to a separate section at the end. - It would also be interesting to know how the Tour was planned to continue after it got aborted. - As many Wikipedia articles about Jackson, this one too has the problem that it's too much a fan article and not enough an objective lexicon article. Olympic Stadium Stockholm attendance wrong

The Olympic Stadium in Stockholm is wrong. The Stadium can take 33 000 people for concerts. It should be 66 000 people if the shows were sold out. You have put 106 000 people. Thats 40 000 people more than posdoble which makes Me think many of the figures here are over Blown. The figures for Suphachalasai Stadium is deffinitely Wrong. It can handle 35 000 people. You have put 140 000 people for 2 concerts. It should have been 70 000 people in total not 140 000 people. The Singapore Natuonal Stadium had a maximum attendance for concerts at 60 000 people. You have put 94 000 people ( completely false). The Taipei Stadium has an attendance of 20 000 people. You have put 80 000 people. syskon Park in Israel has never let more than 50 000 people enter the park. You have put 85 000 people for 2 concerts totaling 170 000 People. Many other Asian Stadiums are completely Wrong and some in Europe too. I would suggest you stop writing figures if you dont have Billboard Numbers. According to Billboard Numbers all of the mentioned concerts and many more had a lot and I mean a lot less attendance for this tour than shown here. Please stick to the truth.

Yet you have not provided a source for your changes to the boxscore. Any changes need to be supported by a reliable source. HorrorLover555 (talk) 18:46, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
