Dean Webb (born Michael Eaton in 1940) is an English rock and roll singer, actor, and composer.
Webb was born in Reading, Berkshire as Michael Eaton. He was educated at St. Annes Roman Catholic School in Caversham.[1] Eaton chose the name "Dean Webb" as his stage name; the name "Dean" likely came from James Dean and "Webb" came from "Harry Webb", the real name of singer Cliff Richard.[1]
Before he was a professional singer, he worked as an apprentice blacksmith in Reading town centre.[1] Webb released a few singles between 1959-1960, but none of them ever charted.
He made two appearances on the show Oh Boy!;[2] one of these performances (from 4th April 1959) survives in the BBC Archives.[3] Webb was on the same tour as Eddie Cochran when a car crash killed Cochran in Bath, Somerset in 1960.[1]
Webb held a few acting gigs in the early 1960s. He played Mike in the 1962 film Some People.[2] In 1963, he played "Blackie" in one episode of the ITV drama The Human Jungle, and the same year was a soldier in episode 25 of Moonstrike.[1] Under his real name, he was the musical composer for the 1970 film The Wife Swappers.[2]
