Galaxy Angel is a bishojo sci-fi/comedy anime TV series by Broccoli. It recently finished its fourth season, while the first season and partially the second season are available on DVD in the United States. Each broadcast is made up of two fifteen minute episodes, whose titles always contain references to food.

The story is about a group of girls who goes on government-humanitarian missions as the Angel Team to search for the Lost Technology. However, in practice, this is usually just a plot device to set up amusing and absurd humor typical of the show. Many of the devices are designed after extremely mundane objects like sticks or rice cookers. A common type of episode is the Angel Team getting into a dangerous situation and watching their loyalty to each other crumble humorously.

Later seasons of the anime lack serious continuity (unlike the fairly straightfoward manga) becoming even more bizzare, episodic, and funny with time. The cast has been repeatedly killed off and transmogrified or put into unusual settings for absolutely no reason. Many of the episodes parody aspects of Japanese culture or television and movies. For example, an entire episode parodying shojo anime even included a separate, new opening just for that episode.

Characters

Milfeulle Sakuraba
A seventeen-year-old pink-haired girl who has an incredible amount of good luck and is the newest member of the Angel Team. Her hobby is cooking snacks, particularly cake, and making tea. Her first name is derived from the name for the French pastry mille-feuille.
Mint Blancmanche
A blue-haired girl who loves to wear costumes.
Ranpha Franboise
A blonde, slightly vain beauty usually featured in a red Chinese dress. Her main yet ultimately futile obsession is handsome (and preferably rich) men.
Forte Stollen
A frank, husky-voiced, boyish redhead in a stylized military uniform complete with hat and monocle. Her hobby is collecting weapons, mostly guns, and she often deals with situations through the use of guns and applied force. She is scared and allergic of rodents.
Vanilla H
A green-haired pale-colored young girl who rarely speaks, and always in a calm, deadpan voice. Most of the time, when she speaks, she refers to God. She has a strange machine, known as the Nanomachine, in her room. Despite all of this, she is quite caring and always follows orders.
Normad
An AI recovered from a missile that was floating in space. He is later placed into a stuffed animal resembling a rotund, pink mutant penguin. He usually has endless praise for Vanilla and holds a cynical view toward the rest of the Angel Team, especially Forte.
Commander Volcott O'Huey
Cocomo and Malibu
