Zone defense in basketball: NBA references

[edit]

As it now stands, the introduction to the basketball section has two references to the NBA's allowance of zone defenses (one at the beginning and one at the end). Since the focus of this article is about zone defense in basketball in general and not about specific rules of the NBA, I don't believe that anything more than a passing reference to this NBA rule change is warranted. Furthermore, I don't think that the reference should occur at the start of the basketball section. I am in favor of combining the two statement in a single sentence about NBA zone defense rules. I think that any elaboration about this rule change should be placed in the NBA article. Crosswalkcs 04:47, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I respectfully disagree. Your position on this topic makes no sense. I'm going to flag this page. It's in need of an expert. Enough amatuer hour.Distipel 16:05, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the first poster. The NBA is a very specialized form of basketball played at the professional level only in the U.S. I think we should mention the differences, but we dont need to go into too much detail. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.211.251.118 (talk) 01:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?

[edit]

I'm not sure, but this is what I saw.

hockey?

[edit]

The lead mentions that zone defense is specifically in hockey, then there is no further mention of hockey. I question that zone defense is any more specific to hockey than it is to other sports, both those mentioned here and others not mentioned. If there is a reason why it is more specific to hockey, than it should be explained why so, otherwise, delete this reference in the lead. Wschart (talk) 19:23, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"art of war"

[edit]

This starts off as an article on team sport and then spirals off into military strategy. Surely the "art of war" section belongs in a separate article- "Zone Defence (Military Strategy)" perhaps? 86.161.220.65 (talk) 12:47, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
