"very famous and successful"

[edit]

Under the heading "Notable performers", one entry reads "Jackie Mei Ling, a very famous and successful dancer and female impersonator, publicly identified himself as a gay man. He is famous for his innovative Oriental dance in various performances." First, "very famous and successful" is weasel-wording of the worst sort. How "famous" was he? A Google search returns a whopping 258 hits. How "successful" of a dancer? No idea, and there's only one source provided for any of the claims made about him. What does it mean to "publicly identify himself as a gay man"? Did he stand in the middle of Union Square with a megaphone, telling the public that he was gay? And saying what someone is supposedly famous for rather negates the claim that they're "very famous". Since Mr. Ling doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for WP:N, this entry should be pared down to the bare minimum, and WP:RS needs to be followed. Bricology (talk) 11:46, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TO DO'S

[edit]

Can you please help me add these images to the wiki page under the Notable Performers sections?

You can keep the caption, description, and file name all the same. You can click this link to access the page:

Can you also insert a citation for the term "China Doll"? The link is here: https://www.mocanyc.org/collections/stories/chop-suey-circuit-china-doll-nightclub/ (shira)
