The Xiongnu language is the presumed language of the Xiongnu, a people and a confederation of nomads having existed from the 3rd century BC. BC to the 1st century AD. It is practically not attested.

Classification

The origin of the Xiongnu language and people is very controversial and no proposition has more support than another. In the current state of knowledge, Xiongnu is an unclassifiable language[1] or a isolate [2], c'est-à-dire une langue qui n'est apparentée à aucune autre langue connue.
