Ayegbayo Damola (born Dec 29, 1988) is a Nigerian contemporary visual artist and painter.[5][6][2]

He has an estimated 1000 works of painting and visual arts and His artwork is displayed at the heart of Osun State capital as a Monument.[1][7]

Early life and education

Ayegbayo, (born 1988 in Ejigbo, Osun State, Nigeria). He pursued his higher education at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine and Applied Arts..[5][3]

Art career history

Ayegbayo damola painting style is called ÀBÈFÉ and it convey the power of the beauty of black African women, the reality of life, and morals through color and black beautiful women's faces and His artwork was used and commissioned for foreign movie The Color Purple (2023 film).[3][4]

World of women Non-fungible token (NFT) had featured ayegbayo on their international projects in partnership with OpenSea and Saatchi Art [8][9] as the only African artist in the world of women NFT projects ,Target,[10], Wayfair and Vincent van Gogh.[11][6][12]

He has held exhibitions in Nigeria, the US, the UK, Canada, and other European countries. His painting has been auctioned by art houses such as Jasper52, LiveAuctioneers,[13] and Bidhaus and bought by private collectors like Marcus Gardley, Jimmy Akingbola, Jean-Michel Basquiat sister Lisane Basquiat.[14][15]

In 2022, HarperCollins Publishers LLC , USA used his artwork "Unconditional love 2" on a book cover titled "Relations An Anthology of African and Diaspora Voices" written by Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond[4] and His work titled “Purpose of Existence” was used as a cover art for a campaign to support promoting black women's mental health by the Cambridge University Press United Kingdom.[7]

In 2023, His artwork “Vision of Hope” was used for a movie documentary “HANDLE WITH CARE” by Jimmy Akingbola.[2]

Ayegbayo was nominated for JOM Charity Awards for his contributions to African art and also‘Black Is An Honour Awards’ in Rwanda.[12][5]
