The Franco-Albertan Flag, created in 1982. (Article forthcoming!)

Hi there, thanks for visiting my little home here at Wikipedia!

My primary interests here are:
  • Canadian history,
  • especially the history and politics of
    Francophone communities, minority or majority.

I suppose it's an odd-preoccupation for an Albertan such as myself, but I am a proud former Montrealer and was even at one time *GASP* a Quebec separatist. Since then I've learned to think a little bit more with my head than with my heart. I think this encyclopedia is a great opportunity to break free of the traditional forces and influences that motivate the telling of history and participate in the common task of building a more objective human history.

What do I mean by objective history? I'm referring to a history that is free from the influences of those in power, of one sided historians funded by patrons with their own agenda, of 'the tyranny of the majority' as Alexis de Tocqueville would say. We will never be completely free of those influences, in historical accounts or any other kind of media. But placing history at the ground level, where everyone can participate, will bring us as close to the ideal of an objective view of history as we may hope to get.

So grab a shovel everyone and dig in... a good, sturdy building has to start with a good foundation.

Made a little edit to the Franco-Albertan page to link to Franco-Albertan Flag page... considering adding on a little more about Franco-Albertan history and culture to the article (it seems a bit bare). Join in if you can!--Audentis 12:57, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
