Thomas Matthew Crooks (September 20, 2003 – July 13, 2024) was an American man who is suspected of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States and the presumptive Republican Party nominee for the 2024 presidential election at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania 6–7 minutes into Trump's speech.[1]

Biography

Thomas Matthew Crooks was from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. In 2022, he graduated from Bethel Park High School.[2]

Crooks donated $15 to ActBlue, an organization dedicated to improving turnout among democratic voters when he was 17.[2]

Crooks was a registered Republican at the time of his death.[2]

Crooks was killed by a sniper from the United States Secret Service Counter Assault Team seconds after he started shooting.[3]

At the time of his death, Crooks did not have a criminal record in Pennsylvania, nor has he been sued there.[4]
