Jim Riswold (born 1957 in Seattle, Washington) was the former creative director for Portland, Oregon based advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy and an instructor for the agency's experimental advertising school, WK12: subject for WKE (WKEntertainment)'s upcoming web episodic documentary, 12.

Early Career in Art

Riswold began his art career at an early age, drawing astronauts screaming to get out of their rocket ships.

He soon advanced to bigger topics, such as Nazis on Spring Break. In this series, Riswold featured Hermann Göring winning hot dog and cotton candy eating contests, Joseph Goebbels bouncing up and down on his bed and surfing, Adolf Hitler surfing, Adolf Hitler on a giant turtle with Marilyn Monroe, Adolf and Marilyn in a rowboat, and Heinrich Himmler taking a bubble bath.

Late Career in Art

Riswold’s later career, while shorter, was no less prolific. He completed 82 pieces for a museum retrospective, including the 20ft Big Dumb Nazi Party.

The artist also completed work on *American Death Pt. 2 (Serial Killers)*, *vietNAmeste*, *The Boxer Rebellion*, *The Boer War*, *Lewis & Clark Rediscover Portland*, and *Coin the Phrase WTF?!*, and wrote a book called *Nurse Hitler*.

Riswold likes to stay busy with what he calls his perverse whimsy.

Advertising Career

In 40 years in advertising at Wieden+Kennedy, Riswold has created some of the most memorable campaigns on that fine agency’s list of achievements—Bo Knows, Spike and Mike, There are courses I’m not allowed to play because of the color of my skin (for Tiger Woods), I am Tiger Woods, Role Model, Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood, CEO Jordan, Forged vs. Cast, and many others.
