Vendor risk refers to the risk caused by the dependency of one's services or products on a lower-level service or product sourced from a particular vendor.[1] It includes the risks of

  • the vendor no longer providing the required product or service,
  • substantially increasing the cost of such or
  • making modifications to the provided product or service such that new versions of the product no longer meet one's functional or non-functional requirements.
