Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Godfrey Bitock (currently a redirect to Godfrey Bitok) → Godfrey Bitok (move · discuss) – Most common spelling for COMMONNAME Ortizesp (talk) 21:04, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Ortizesp: I'm not sure the common name is necessarily clear here, although I agree it shouldn't be at the current title. I see "Godfrey Bitok Stephen" ([1]), "Godfrey Bitok" ([2]), and "Godfrey Stephen" ([3]). It looks like "Godfrey Bitok Stephen" appears the most. C F A 💬 22:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Execution of Alfred Bourgeois (currently a redirect to Alfred Bourgeois) → Alfred Bourgeois (move · discuss) – Per Wikipedia:PERPETRATOR and for reasons stated and discussed on the talk page: [4]. Inexpiable (talk) 20:10, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Inexpiable: You can move this on your own. See WP:MOR. SilverLocust 💬 03:57, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- Template:Radio in New York City (currently a redirect to Template:New York City Radio) → Template:New York City Radio (move · discuss) – Self-explanatory. 100.7.34.111 (talk) 22:09, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Draft:Tropical Storm Maria (2024) (currently a redirect to Tropical Storm Maria (2024)) → Tropical Storm Maria (2024) (move · discuss) – @HurricaneEdgar move to mainspace? is done to edit? 122.52.17.109 (talk) 06:48, 17 August 2024 (UTC) --122.52.17.109 (talk) 06:48, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- @122.52.17.109 Yes, it’s done expanding the draft. It should then be moved into the article. HurricaneEdgar 06:53, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- DOA (mixtape) → DOA (album) (currently a redirect instead to DOA) (move · discuss) – Majority of sources call this an album rather than a mixtape, and the disambiguation should reflect that. Current target's album does not appear to be notable, and can/should be replaced with a hatnote. Current title should be tagged as {{r from incorrect disambiguation}}. - Note that D.o.A: The Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle may be seen as ambiguous. 162 etc. (talk) 02:12, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- @162 etc. I think the punctuation and capitalization is enough for WP:SMALLDIFFS and a hatnote should suffice. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 00:44, 14 August 2024 (UTC)- Nope, it needs full disambiguation from that. — Amakuru (talk) 07:36, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

- Trichosanthes dioica → Potol (currently a redirect back to Trichosanthes dioica) (move · discuss) – This plant is culinarily significant and is known by the name "Potol" in majority of the English language sources. Requesting it's move as per WP:FLORATITLES and WP:UCRN. SriHarsha Bhogi (talk) 13:25, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Sri Harsha Bhogi The article currently doesn't seem to support Potol as being the primary English-language name. The article only features pointed gourd as an alternative title, and mentions "potol" only as a transliteration of the Bengali word. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 13:54, 14 August 2024 (UTC)- Any idea why? "Potol" isn't just it's Bengali name. It's used for this species in the publications in multiple languages including English. --SriHarsha Bhogi (talk) 16:08, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

- Brussels Stock Exchange → Euronext Brussels (currently a redirect back to Brussels Stock Exchange) (move · discuss) – The exchange has been renamed a while ago Tigga (talk) 13:23, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Tigga There have been two failed move discussions (one in 2018, one in 2022) to move this article to Euronext Brussels, so this is not uncontrovertial. If you wish to open a new discussion, please click on the "discuss" link in your request above. --Ahecht (TALK

- Brothers in Arms (organization) (currently a redirect to Brothers and Sisters in Arms) → Brothers and Sisters in Arms (move · discuss) – name change requested by organization and name in Hebrew is better represented by new title Omer Toledano (talk) 03:32, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Omert33: What do you mean by "name change requested by organization"? C F A 💬 15:08, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- I approached someone who knows someone there and inquired if a name change is in order to better coincide with the name in Hebrew. They replied in favor of the name change. --Omer Toledano (talk) 15:18, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- Isn't that a conflict of interest that you should disclose? C F A 💬 16:06, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think so. I simply think that "Brothers and Sisters in Arms" is more reflective of the name in Hebrew. -- Omer Toledano (talk) 18:28, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

- @Omert33 Moved to contested due to WP:COI concerns - COI moves are automatically controversial. IMO, "knowing somebody who knows somebody" is still a connection and makes this a first-party request. (On that note, thanks for your honesty. It's better to have a discussion to ensure the intended title remains in-place) ASUKITE 15:13, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

- Template:Raleigh-Durham TV → Template:Research Triangle TV (move · discuss) – The market covers the entire Research Triangle, not just Raleigh and Durham. 100.7.34.111 (talk) 17:05, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- The name of the DMA according to the FCC/Neilsen, etc. is "Raleigh-Durham (Fayetteville)". I would suggest Template:Raleigh–Durham–Fayetteville TV. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 17:51, 15 August 2024 (UTC) - Is a rename needed for a template? A lot of our templates, especially navboxes of this type, have short, if sometimes cryptic, names. This one is concise enough. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 00:24, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
