Jan Kompanie

I believe that there is no actual evidence to support that Jan Kompanie ever existed or that De Rutyer met him in Africa. Do we have a source for what is written in the article? DavidDijkgraaf (talk) 22:41, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 27 August 2024

Expedition to West Africa (1664-1665)Dutch expedition to West Africa – There are no other articles entitled Expedition to West Africa, but it may be good to add "Dutch" for topic clarity here. Some other title entirely may be better (the article cites only a single source in Dutch). The date range (especially with a hyphen) is probably not the best choice. — BarrelProof (talk) 23:21, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a Dutch expedition. Not sure why it should be called an English expedition? DavidDijkgraaf (talk) 23:51, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I misread the opening sentence (which contained "England launched an expedition to conquer Dutch forts"). I've changed "English" to "Dutch". — BarrelProof (talk) 00:09, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
De Ruyter's Expedition to West Africa might be a better name. I will try to look into the historiography when I have some time DavidDijkgraaf (talk) 16:01, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or De Ruyter Expedition to West Africa. I'm open to suggestions. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:40, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
