Dead Meat (YouTube Channel)

Dead Meat is a YouTube channel created by James. A Janisse and his wife Chelsea Rebecca. Primarily focusing on horror movies and horror-adjacent media, the channel hosts a number of shows, mainly The Kill Count, where host Janisse reviews various horror movies, counting their kills and taking an in-depth look into their production. The channel began on January 7, 2017, with a kill count of Friday the 13th. As of September 2024, the channel has amassed over 6.5 million subscribers and around 2.6 billion views [1].

History

James. A Janisse began his YouTube career in 2010 as a founding member of Comediocracy, which later became Practical Folks in 2014, along with Chelsea Rebecca, Joel Arnold and James Graessle. Beginning with sketch comedy, they transitioned into unscripted comedy and film discussion as their series Drunk Disney became more popular. They lauched a spin-off series Drunk Star Wars in 2016. The channel has been inactive since July 2019

A lifelong fan of Horror, Janisse created Dead Meat in 2017, a channel dedicated to discussing horror films; it began with covering the Friday the 13th franchise. It has since covered a variety of films including classics such as Frankenstein and Dracula, and also newer releases such as Abigail and Late Night With the Devil. It has also covered horror adjacent media such as comedies like Shaun of the Dead and the Zombieland Series. In 2020, it covered it's first TV series, Stranger Things. It has also covered web series, such as The Look-See (Which Janisse also stars) and the Sunny Family Cult.

The Channel's rise in popularity has led Janisse and Rebecca to be rising stars within the Horror Community, this led to them having a cameo in Scream (2022).
