	Amerivision Song Contest

The Amerivision Song Contest 1992 was the thirty-seventh edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU), host broadcaster Public Television of Bahamas (PTB). The edition was hosted in the Nassau Silver Hall, in Nassau, The Bahamas, as the country earned the right to host the contest by winning the previous edition.

Host picking

Only one bahamian venue submitted a bid to host the contest, therefore it was automatically chosen.

Relegations

In the 1991 edition, the relegation system was implemented at the last minute to reduce the amount of participating countries, after complaints from delegations, specially the relegated ones, the system was reformed for the next edition, in the new system, a ranking of nations was made based on the average score the country recieved in the last three editions, and the countries with the lowest average were relegated until twenty four were left, with the relegated countries only returning in the next year, with the only countries immune to this being the host nation and countries that participated once in the last three years, such as Aruba. In the end, the three relegated nations were Bolivia, Jamaica and Martinique

Aruba and Venezuela were removed from the ranking, as they withdrew from the contest for unspecified reasons. Antigua and Barbuda returned to the contest after a two year absence.
