Natassia Linn Malthe (/nəˈtɑːʃə/; born 19 January 1974) is a Norwegian actress.
Early life and career
Natassia Malthe, born on January 19, 1974, in Oslo, Norway, is a well-known actress and model of Norwegian and Malaysian descent. Her early life was marked by a strong foundation in the arts, as she trained in ballet at the Goh Ballet Academy in Canada and the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. She later moved to London to study musical theater before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Malthe’s career in the entertainment industry took off in the late 1990s. She made her film debut in "Disturbing Behavior" (1998) and gained recognition for her roles in action and fantasy films, including “Elektra” (2005), where she starred alongside Jennifer Garner, and the “BloodRayne” series. Throughout her career, Malthe has collaborated with high-profile directors and actors, such as McG, David Nutter, and Tom Hardy. Her performances often showcase her versatility, particularly in physically demanding roles, supported by her martial arts training.
Despite her success, Malthe’s journey in Hollywood was not without challenges. She lived in Los Angeles for many years without a work permit or green card, navigating the competitive landscape with temporary visas for each film project. This period was particularly tough, as she had to secure visa sponsorships continuously to remain active in the industry.
In recent years, Malthe shifted her focus toward directing and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Television from Kristianna University College (Westerdals) in Oslo, Norway, in 2024. She expressed a deep passion for filmmaking and sees her future in directing, emphasizing that creating movies is something she finds immensely enjoyable.
Currently residing in Norway, Malthe has diversified her career by venturing into business. She has launched several successful ventures, proving her acumen beyond the entertainment industry. In addition to her professional achievements, she is also known for her advocacy work, particularly in the #MeToo movement, where she has been vocal about her experiences and has worked to raise awareness about sexual harassment in the industry.
Malthe’s story is one of resilience and adaptability, reflecting her ability to thrive both in front of and behind the camera, and in the business world.
Personal life
In 2017, Malthe joined numerous other women in accusing film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual improprieties.[1][2]
Malthe founded and is the director of The North Star's Actors Hub, Oslo.[3]
She received her Bachelor's degree in film and television from Kristianna University College (Westerdals)[4]in Oslo, Norway on 18 June 2024, stating that "The three years went way way way to quickly . I could study for three more and not get bored of this topic . Making movies is FUN!!!!"[5]
