Edit reverts - please leave a message on the talk page

Hi Chris, I noticed you reverted the edits of Special:Contributions/58.165.174.211 earlier today, on the ScotRail page. I wanted to remind you that, when you revert an edit (particularly here which, for some, could constitute vandalism) you should always leave a message on the offending user's talk page. I have now done this, but if I don't respond in time, please could you do this yourself if/when this happens. If you need to know what to write on their talk page, you can see what I've put on one of my subpages here. Thanks. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 19:37, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dnyaneshwar Vidyapeeth Edits

Hello DrChrisWilliams. Thanks for writing me back. I edited & provided some citations on that page. My friend has studied in that institute, & based on his sources, I added that information. Also the HC order, although invalidating degrees, have never mentioned institute as fake (I've attached court order in ref. section). To give complete background, I've added the background information & events surrounding institute. So I'll revert it back. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.245.90 (talk) 09:00, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pending Proposal for Kessler Foundation

Hi. I see you’re a member of the WikiProject Medicine/Society and medicine task force. I’ve made a number of proposals to update the article about Kessler Foundation, a charity that supports people with disabilities. Several have been reviewed but a few remain. The request is posted here Talk:Kessler_Foundation#Kessler Foundation Edit Requests – October 2022. I have a conflict of interest, and do the edits myself. Would you possibly have time to look at these? I appreciate your time. Dogmomma529 (talk) 20:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Uni of Dundee webpage

Please, do not remove the information added under the section "Controversies". People need to know about previous troubles suffered by foreign students at the UoD. I understand that you are Scottish but this should not mean anything. 86.178.181.143 (talk) 21:02, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a look for further coverage of the two cases that had been added to the page. In the first case, the source was a newspaper article based on accusations made by a disabled student. This case was also reported in other newspapers in 2019, but when the multiple complaints were looked at by Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) and were not upheld- the Decision Report 201810303 was published in October 2020. In the second case, a court roll reference on its own isn't external coverage and doesn't establish notability. I think these both fall under WP:NOT. Drchriswilliams (talk) 06:11, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are wrong. The SPSO upheld some of the complaints submitted by the disabled student. It is written verbatim 'Some upheld, recommendations.' The judicial case involving the Italian national is ongoing. 86.178.181.143 (talk) 22:06, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The claims that were made and covered in a news article were not upheld by the SPSO. This section does appear to fall under WP:SYNTH and I have removed the affected material. Drchriswilliams (talk) 06:42, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

apologies for accidental authority control removal

Apologies for the accidental removal of authority control on the Torcuil Crichton page; I don't know how I did that while I was removing a stray word elsewhere. (In fact I don't know what it is, I'll need to look it up.) Best wishes, Iain Iaineditor (talk) 16:30, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Iaineditor: thank you for reaching out, and for being willing to learn. Please accept my apology too. After I partially reverted your edit, I had later meant to leave a message on your talk page to offer further explanation- after I wondered whether you had inadvertently edited an old version of that page. I hope you will now be able to see at the very bottom of the current version of the page that there are links to a couple of international databases where Torcuil is listed (linked to Fo bhruin, 2010). That's what the template does. Drchriswilliams (talk) 16:55, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Much appreciated; many thanks. Also, to elaborate on the 'thank' button I clicked earlier, thank you for among other things tidying up the references I introduced; I need to spend more time on learning how to format references in the best way. Iaineditor (talk) 17:24, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Peace Pole Page

Can I know the reason for your removal of the link I added to the page about peace poles? I was one of the original contributors to that page 20 years ago. I was one of only two people making peace poles in the country back then. I still am the only one making institutional size peace poles. I was the one who originally added the text that I turned into a hyperlink yesterday. I thought I added it as a hyperlink originally, but yesterday I noticed the link was not there and added it again. Why did you remove it? Sighalot (talk) 22:23, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sighalot: A link to an external site which is placed in the main text of an article does not appear compliant with the guidance at WP:EL, especially where the link is to a commercial site and not a reliable source. Drchriswilliams (talk) 08:05, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Thanks for the reply. It has been many years since I contributed to Wikipedia and I am just figuring out how things have changed. Sighalot (talk) 16:57, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was seen by those who needed to see it and doesn't need to be here any more.
