Dusknoir (ヨノワール, Yonowāru, Yonoir in original Japanese language versions) is one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Dusknoir in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.

Its name is a portmanteau of the word "dusk", following the naming scheme of it's pre-evolutions, and the French word for black, noir.

Biological characteristics

Dusknoir's body is mostly black, with two yellow almond-shaped bumps and a yellow horizontal zigzag line on this Pokémon's torso which can open like a mouth (creating the illusion of a face). Yonoir has now developed arms. Two yellow bands are near its wrists and its grey hands are similar to Dusclops'. Dusknoir has a grey, cylinder-shaped head with another yellow band near the top and a single black eye with a red pupil. Dusknoir has a yellow antenna on top of its head in which allows this Pokémon to receive transmissions from the spirit world. It also takes humans wishing to learn of the dead with it to the other world. Dusknoir has a ghostly tail instead of feet like Dusclops, resembling the stereotypical depiction of a genie.

In the video games

Dusknoir is one of several new Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Dusknoir evolves from Dusclops when it is traded while holding an item called Reaper Cloth.

In addition to being an evolution of an older Pokémon, Dusknoir is the first Stage 2 Pokémon that is a pure Ghost-type.
