But in this article (The Guardian) and this one (Los Angeles Times) the song is described as being about Lithofayne Pridgon (1940–2021), more likely than Kathy Etchingham. O'Dea (talk) 21:26, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello Tkbrett: While it's true that FL was released as a single, is it really best known as one? The template guidance includes:

If an album track was later released as a single, use the most notable or best known. For example, "Stairway to Heaven" was released as a promo single in several markets and as a digital single in 2007, but became best known as a song from Led Zeppelin's fourth album. [emphasis in original]".

Reprise held off on releasing Axis: Bold as Love in the U.S. for six weeks because of a competing album of some recordings of Hendrix as a backing guitarist had been released by another label. FL was as a stopgap release; for some reason, JHE's fifth UK single "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" didn't see an American release until a year later. As with most of Hendrix's U.S. singles, FL made a rather mediocre showing in the charts (No. 67), largely due to the audience's shift to albums (unlike the UK, all of his singles had been or were soon to be released on albums).

It's not a big deal, but the article has always used "song" rather than "single" for the type. Do you have any additional info regarding the single?

I don't have any further info regarding its single release. My main concern was getting the chronologies to match up, since if you go to the "The Wind Cries Mary" and "Up from the Skies" you see "Foxey Lady" in the infobox there. I don't have much in the way of Hendrix literature, so I'll defer to your best judgement on this one as you have a lot more experience with these articles. If we remove "type=single" it keeps the chronology, but only specifies it as a "song" rather than a "single". Another issue is that the US single was released a "Foxey Lady", but I'm not sure how to get the chronology to write that, rather than "Foxy Lady". Tkbrett (✉) 14:22, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

It looks like only |type=song will produce blue in the extra chrono, but it also adds italics, which I tried to fix, but ... left as "Foxy Lady" for now. —Ojorojo (talk) 15:45, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

I've toyed around with it for a bit and I can't seem to figure it out either. Is it a part of the MOS anywhere that the entire song infobox should be the same color? I haven't seen it anywhere. Tkbrett (✉) 17:28, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

I seem to remember that it was brought up during infobox song/single merger discussions, but can't find it. WP:INFOBOXSTYLE mentions "not to add extraneous style formatting over that in a default infobox without good reason" and "should not be arbitrarily decorative". Frankly, I never understood why some felt that it was necessary to distinguish types in an infobox. where's the usual list of cover versions? just heard one on KALX, prompting me to recall the cure taking a run at it, early 80s, as a b-side iirc. the one I just heard was a live rendering by 'odd job' featuring shelley hirsch.
