Plot
Three years after the death of Yam on summer of 1972, in 1975 Yak still relentlessly hunts the ghost in black who killed his sister. Despite his family’s efforts to convince him to stop seeking revenge on the ghost in black, Yak remains stubborn, determined to track it down, fearing that the ghost will return to harm the remaining members of his family.
Yak follows the mysterious death of a newborn, discovered in a newspaper article, and finds clues leading him to the fact that the ghost in black is being controlled by a powerful shaman named Puang, who fled to hide in the Dong Khomot, a place filled with mystical and dangerous powers. Yak must confront malevolent spirits and dangers around him in order to defeat the ghost in black, ensuring it never returns to harm his family again.
Meanwhile, Yad is about to marry Pradit, and the family is preparing for their wedding, hoping that Yak will return to attend the ceremony and reunite with everyone. Differences from novel
Death Whisperer 2 is loosely based on the novel Tee Yod... The Ends of a Mad Groan by Krittanon,[11] the sequel of Tee Yod... Heard a Mad Groan by the same author. It is quite different from the novel version:
- There is no character named Namphet, the daughter of Serge Paphan, who is the one who provides information to Yak about the origin of the ghost in black, referring to journal hebdomadaire during the King Rama V's reign called Vajrayana Viset. Namphet is a female protagonist who has feelings of love for Yak.
- The story in the novel takes place in 1977, five years after the first part, but in the film, it takes place in 1975, only three years after it's precursor.
- The role of Yak family characters in the novel is very small, only mentioned. In the film version, their roles are quite large.[11]
- The scene in Phrom Phiram district, Phitsanulok province, takes place on a moving train and also refers to Phrom Phiram murder case, actual crimes that occurred during that time. However, in the film version, it is only an introduction before entering the story. It is a scene where Yak goes to subdue a man who is possessed by a ghost.
- There have been quite a few changes to the names of the supporting characters, such as Tevin becoming Jirasak, Kampang becoming Navin etc. Including the absence of Dong Khamod the ghost forest in the novel version.
- In the novel, Yad is married and has one child, but her husband's name is not mentioned. In the film version, Yad is about to get married, with her fiancé named Pradit, a Sino Thai who is the heir to a pharmacy and also an important character.
- The hotel scene in Uttaradit town, which is the place where Yak's group used to stay overnight, has become to the location of Yad and Pradit's wedding and the climax of the film.
- There is no Chauy and Yam characters in the novel version.
