Small categories

[edit]

When creating categories, please don't create categories that will have only 1, 2 or even 3 members. These categories serve very little purpose, and will generally be deleted at WP:CFD. As a rule of thumb, categories shouldn't be created until it can have around 5 member articles. Please also see WP:SMALLCAT for guidance. --AussieLegend () 18:24, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know how to explain the above any more clearly. Please stop repopulating tiny categories that shouldn't exist, like Category:Scorpion (TV series), which only has 3 related articles and is unlikely to have any more in the forseeable future. --AussieLegend () 07:25, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of parent categories for television articles

[edit]

Hello, Redhead4567. I noticed that you've been adding categories to quite a few articles on television programs. But you've been adding them to the shows' main categories even though they already appear in appropriate sub-categories (such as "Characters in ..." and "Seasons of ..."). We generally don't place something in both a category and one of its sub-categories. I also noticed cases where you've engaged in edit warring by restoring the categories after another editor removed them. In those cases, the proper action is to engage in discussion with the editor who reverted your actions. NewYorkActuary (talk) 07:37, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm John "Hannibal" Smith. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Mr. Robot (TV series) without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. A tag has been placed on Category:Amazon children original programing requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and it is not presently under discussion at Categories for discussion, or at disambiguation categories.

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Just Add Magic (TV series) has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Came across copied content (verbatim) from Amazon for most of the season 2 episode summaries. Checking an edit of yours from March 8, 2017, to the article indicated that the copied content came from that edit. While a number of episode summaries in the article hadn't been written at the time, any that are filled in must be in the contributor's own words, not copied from somewhere else, which usually represents a copyright violation. Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Horton Hears a Who! (film), please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. Categories must also be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you.
