[edit]{{fc|Middlesbrough}} leaves the template in place as code, and expands it into text on the fly each time it's invoked. Don't do this - see Template:Fc.
{{subst:fc|Middlesbrough}} "substitutes" - that is it obtains the current result and enters it as text. The template link is lost. Yes, do this, see Template:Fc.

Archiving – easy setup
[edit]From: Help:Archiving (plain and simple)
To add an archives and search box to any talk page, copy the code in the box below (from this page right here, not by going into edit mode) and insert it (as is with no changes) after the talk page headers (all the other stuff with curly brackets at the top of the edit box). Copy the entire thing, including the two opening brackets and the two final brackets.
{{subst:Setup cluebot archiving|archives=yes}}
Set up auto archiving per "numerous resolved or stale discussions" – we do not need all this stuff from way back when.
rm old ELM(s) prior to archiving
"Large talk pages are difficult to read and load slowly over slow connections. As a rule of thumb, archive closed discussions when a talk page exceeds 75 KB or has numerous resolved or stale discussions – see Help:Archiving a talk page. Apart from the exception described in WP:OWNTALK, discussions should be archived, not blanked."
Archiving note/reminder
[edit]If a newly set-up automatic archive arrangement misses some old ones, just manually archive them. Don't worry about why they failed - it's not necessarily obvious, and trying to fix some ancient edit is probably not worth your time. Once the regular archive is running it seems to pick up the more recent ones without trouble.
For examples see: archive bot leaves one behind, then the editor moves it to the correct place in the archive. Here's the editor discussing this, in which he says the days when I doggedly tried to figure out why something unexpected happens are over, I now just find a kludge
, which works for me!

Photos of objects etc
[edit]Me:
I would quite like to replace this photo with something better, but I seem to recall being told that photos of objects are not necessarily OK because the design of the object might be copyright.
Diannaa:
The information on photographing artwork and other copyrightable objects such as toys is found at commons:Commons:Freedom of panorama. Making a long story short, it depends on the country of origin. For the UK, commons:Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United Kingdom#Freedom of panorama says that the 3D object needs to be permanently on display in a public place. So my opinion is no, it's not okay. Since the company is now out of business, you might make a good case for a fair use image.
