This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Israel. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Israel|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Israel. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

No particular problem with notability, however the article is a totally unjustified near-complete SPINOUT (technically still a spinoff). One quick look at Egypt–Gaza border#Buffer zone by Egypt shows how content-unbalanced the current situation. Advising to urgently merge into Egypt–Gaza border. Running this through AfD so more editors will see the procedure. That said, this is NOT ABOUT NOTABILITY but about content management. The article can also be seen as a CFORK. There is huge overlap. Based on the sourcing in this article, the organisation does not meet WP:NCORP. The Hebrew article isn’t any help in terms of additional sources that would show the topic is notable. There may be better sources in Hebrew that I can’t find, but if not I think this should be deleted, Mccapra (talk) 03:42, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's a recognized association in Israel (link here & here), It's also known for it's political activities (some English sources: 1, 2, 3). I don't think the article should be deleted, but I'll respect the community decision. אקסינו (talk) 07:00, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep As it covers an important progressive movement in Israel that has made a significant impact on social and political issues. The group has been involved in campaigns for environmental protection, human rights, and social justice, which have received media attention.   • Delete. There are two very basic problems with this article: [1] How is it notable? It's a small organization. References are passing mentions or not independent. Sources are hard to find – tag me if found – since מחזקים is a common Hebrew word. [2] Where does this article/organization fit in with the rest of Wikipedia? The organization exists and has some activities and impact. It can be mentioned elsewhere, for example at the New Israel Fund, yet hasn't been organically included in ANY other articles. The latter nixes a redirect. The interests are broad so no immediate (highly selective) merge destination comes to mind. Sticking with the NIF example, it is obviously not a subsidiary. It may belong somewhere in the discussion of NIF but we do not know that for sure, nor how to include Mehazkim. [1] and [2] lead to delete. gidonb (talk) 18:57, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No real sources on this article demonstrating notability, and only one source I could find online. Fails WP:NCORP. Allan Nonymous (talk) 20:35, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NCORP states "this page is to help determine whether an organization (commercial or otherwise), or any of its products and services, is a valid subject for a separate Wikipedia article dedicated solely to that organization, product, or service." And the introductory sentence of the article is "VPN-1 is a firewall and VPN product." Brandon (talk) 07:10, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Editors may be interested in searching for this product in the EBSCOhost databases, provided free of charge by the The Wikipedia Library.   • Comment Looking at the EBSCOhost results, they're mostly reviews of VPN-1 software and devices in technical magazines - e.g. there's one in Network Computing from 2000, two in Network World from 2000 and 2005, and one in Server Management from 2007. There's also a ComputerWorld article from 2001 about a security hole in VPN-1. I'd consider all of these to be reliable, independent sources, and they go into as much technical depth as I'd expect from a networking magazine. I didn't find any really early reviews that would support the material about why VPN-1 was novel when it first came out, though. Adam Sampson (talk) 12:19, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Check Point has dozens and dozens of products, of which VPN-1 is just one that doesn't standout as the 1 or 2 products we should have an article on. Even Cisco, the most prominent networking vendor, suffers from this problem. Category:Cisco products is an arbitrary collection of Cisco products that is in no way comprehensive or even reflects the most notable subset of their products. Perhaps we should merge this article to List of Check Point products and in the future if sections are fleshed out enough they can be split into their own articles?   • Redirect to the company article (Check Point) for now. If a list of products is spun out it can be retargeted and any appropriate content merged then, though it's not clear to me there is any content appropriate to merge considering it's currently essentially unsourced.
