Which article are you evaluating?

[edit]

(Provide a link to the article here.) Point Reyes

Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?

[edit]

(Briefly explain why you chose it, why it matters, and what your preliminary impression of it was.)

I have decided to explore this article because it has a lot of great information concerning this area in California. I would like to specifically focus on the ecology portion of this page. The page provides great detail about the male and female Tule elk, yet it does not specifically add any information about the preservation of this species. I would like to add some information of the pants this specie eats and how it is vital to the habitat and the Tule Elk.

Evaluate the article

(Compose a detailed evaluation of the article here, considering each of the key aspects listed above. Consider the guiding questions, and check out the examples of what a useful Wikipedia article evaluation looks like.)

The article provides well detailed sections about the history of Point Reyes. When reviewing the ecology section of this article, I noticed that the passage present a detailed history of the tule elk in Point Reyes. It was vital to understand the reason why the elk where near extinction, how they reintroduction, and the challenges they faced. This section provides information as to why human based activities impacted the elk populations. The article did a great job at explaining the specific diseases that the elk faces, as well as the drought that affected most of the population. The article did touch on the impact of non-native species and the diseases introduced by the livestock, which was needed to understand the larger environmental context. Some suggestions that can be added is talking about the exact diet that the elk had within this area and how this could have play a role for the elk to this very day. I would like to provide more emphasis on this matter. Specifically looking at how the native plants could help the elk.
