capitalization at article beginning

[edit]

The first word of a sentence is always capitalized even if the particular word isn't always--dchmelik☀️🦉🐝🐍(talk|contrib) 04:52, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters that is primarily true, though exceptions exist and per MOS:TMCAPS this seems to be one of them. - Aoidh (talk) 16:13, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Build number for latest macOS Sonoma is incorrect

[edit]

The build number found in Template:MacOS versions at the column "Most recent version" in the "macOS 14" row is incorrect. It should be "23G80" instead of the existing "23F80". Please see https://developer.apple.com/news/releases/?id=07232024d Lalov001 (talk) 00:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed in this edit. Guy Harris (talk) 20:46, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline Old, Older, Latest seems confusing

[edit]

The table Timeline of releases has a color code key that uses pink for Old Version, and yellow for Older version, yet the "Older versions" are newer than the "Old version".

I am pretty sure the intent of "Older version" is "older relative to "Latest". Perhaps this would be better called "Recently superseded but still maintained.".

Yes, the wording is confusing.
However, that table is produced by the {{Version}} template; changes to the labels for the colors would have to be made there, and would affect many other pages that use that template as well, so this issue should be discussed at Template talk:Version, not here. Guy Harris (talk) 20:20, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See Template talk:Version § "Old" versions are usually older than "Older" versions. Guy Harris (talk) 20:27, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just changed the template to use "Old" for both. Guy Harris (talk) 22:03, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganize article

[edit]

The article has a History and Release history section that seem to cover the same information, and the Release history appears to be a near copy-paste of the MacOS version history article. Should the two sections be merged? Should the version history article be merged into this article or be repurposed as a more general History of MacOS article? Recent versions in both are almost only described as "name, announced then, released then" and sometimes highlight not particularly notable changes as "key changes," if done at all. 2A02:A020:5C1:95C8:C51A:234C:2CB6:7E10 (talk) 13:20, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 23 October 2024

[edit]

I would like to edit the 'latest preview' section. A new macOS beta released today - macOS 15.2 Beta 1. Thomashardyy08 (talk) 22:01, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Please provide the source and specific text you would like to add. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 02:13, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And that's not something that comes from this page, it comes from a template. There's a [±] box after the release information; click on it, and you can edit the preview version. (It's now up to date.) Guy Harris (talk) 18:46, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
