Rabbi Dov Ber Cohen (Oct 1977 - age 46) is an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi, meditation and mindfulness teacher,[1], author, and motivational speaker[2].
Early Life and Education:
Dov Ber grew up in London, England in a Reform Jewish affiliated-family[3]
He got a bachelor's degree in philosophy at Manchester University.
Having become interested in Eastern philosophies, meditation, and martial arts, Cohen decided to travel to Asia to experience this first hand.
Over 6 years, he lived in Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, Laos, China and Nepal.
In this time he learned Thai, Japanese, Hindi, and Korean, attained a black belt in Taekwondo and a brown belt in Aikido, attended several 10-day silent meditation retreats, volunteered in orphanages and hiked extensively in the Himalayas
His eyes then turned to a canoeing trip down the Amazon but he stopped in Israel for a couple of weeks on his way over.
In Israel, Dov Ber came into contact with profound Jewish wisdom. He ended up staying in Israel and studying to become a Rabbi[4], only getting to South America several years later[5].
Philanthropic Work:
After his first year in Israel, Dov Ber decided to walk the Israel National Trail - a hiking path that runs 1100 km from the North to South of Israel. He completed the trail and raised $18,000 for orphanages in that he had worked in.[6] He also set up All for the Kids, an organisation which focused on raising money for orphans in Israel and Africa, as well as teaching people the value of social action work and publicizing the Jewish people’s role in Tikkun Olam[7].
Career:
He is a senior educator at Aish, and in that capacity has met Floyd Mayweather[8][9], Noah Schnapp, and Nuseir Yassin[10][11] as well as many others.
He speaks on topics of faith and philosophy both Jewish and Buddhist/Hindu[12].
He runs an online mindfulness course teaching people the basics of living with health and well-being and runs a YouTube channel as well as online classes[13] that imparts practical wisdom to help people create a great life for themselves. Key themes in his classes are discipline and mindfulness[14].
Author:
Rabbi Dov Ber Cohen is the author of two books.
Mastering Life: A Unique Guidebook to Jewish Enlightenment, Mosaica Press, April, 2019
The Essential Teachings: Universal Wisdom for Creating a Great Life.
He has also written several articles for Aish.com[15] and other publications[16].
