Deadline 3: Yujin Jang

Dear Professor I have completed deadline 3 of "Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis" from the professor.

This is my draft Hongseong at Wikivoyage for main project individually.

Please check, Thanks.Yujin0203 (talk) 07:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Yujin0203 Good progress Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 06:59, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline4:CAI ZHIHANG

Dear Professor.

I am studying “Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis” and “Media Trends and Globalization”.

This is my first draft of the sandbox link Caizzz (talk) 06:12, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Caizzz Good start. Please make sure to add references to your article. Please remember that only referenced content can be added to English Wikipedia and only such content will count for credit. The content from Chinese article that has no references needs to be referenced first before being translated. See Wikipedia:Verifiability
In some cases you have links to Baidu content rather then Wikipedia - please make sure to fix your links. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 08:20, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is my new link Caizzz (talk) 12:30, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Caizzz Good, but please check your links. Your url for reference 1 leads to Chinese Wikipedia, instead of the book in question.
Next, if the source is in Chinese (ex. 李鹏《六四日记》), please use both the Chinese and English titles. Use Chinese title in the 'title' field, and English in the 'translated title' field. If you need help, stop by my office and I'll demonstrate how to do so. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 06:18, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the new link Caizzz (talk) 05:25, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Caizzz Good job adding English titles, but please fix link to Wikipedia in your reference 1, it should link to the book in question. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 07:24, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the new link Caizzz (talk) 04:54, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Caizzz I have fixed it for you. Please see how it should be done. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:19, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the new link Caizzz (talk) 04:31, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Caizzz Good progress. The content from Chinese article that has no references needs to be referenced before being published. See Wikipedia:Verifiability
Also, please add links (and Chinese title, if the source is in Chinese) to references 5, 13 and 15. If the reference is not online, please add other information that allow confirmation that the source exist (link to library catalogue entry for the position or such). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:44, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the new link 5,13,15 Annotation has been completed. Caizzz (talk) 04:23, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Caizzz Good. Please replace reference 15 with a better source. Per the discussion and explanation at 1Wikipedia:BAIDU, Baidu is not allowed on Wikipedia (too many errors). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:34, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For ref 23 - is this a book? Can you add ISBNs to it and other books? Also, if it is in Chinese, it needs a Chinese title, not just English. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:35, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 4&5 : Jeongeun Park

Dear Professor:

I'm taking "Media Trends and Globalization"

Deadline 4 and 5 tasks: I've done my article "World System theory" in my sandbox. Check the link out, please. Thank you. Parkjeongeun0430 Sandbox

Thank you. Parkjeongeun0430 (talk) 12:52, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Parkjeongeun0430 Good. Once you think the translation is completely done, you can publish your work by moving the draft to the mainspace (see ko:위키백과:문서_이동 on how to do this) Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:37, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the my article. Please check. Parkjeongeun0430 (talk) 08:15, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Parkjeongeun0430 This was not done correctly. I do not see any of your edits in the linked page. You should expand that article with your content from 세계 체제론 - 위키백과 (wikipedia.org) . I will also ping @Ykhwong who redirected your page (I see there was some trouble with page moves and redirects). Parkjeongeun0430, please add your content to the existing article - your task is to expand the existing article with content from English Wikipedia, not to create a WP:CONTENTFORK. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:59, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An article titled ko:세계체제론, which corresponds to World-systems theory, already exists on the Korean Wikipedia. However, User:Parkjeongeun0430 has created a duplicate article titled ko:세계 체제론 (note the space in the title). That is why I made ko:세계 체제론 a redirect to ko:세계체제론. He should make changes to ko:세계체제론, not ko:세계 체제론. --ted (talk) 13:48, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ykhwong I agree. I hope @Parkjeongeun0430 reads our remarks and understands what they need to fix. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:46, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it. Please check it.
https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%84%B8%EA%B3%84%EC%B2%B4%EC%A0%9C%EB%A1%A0 Parkjeongeun0430 (talk) 08:37, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Parkjeongeun0430 Good, this is the right space. Now please wait and see if Korean reviewers have any comments about the quality of your translation and other issues. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 00:59, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline4:WANG TAO&ZAI WEI

We are studying “Media Trends and Globalization”.

Hello Professor, my group(@ZAIWEI0328)and I have completed deadline 4 please check.

Here is the article translated from Chinese to English:Early buildings of Wuhan University(武汉大学早期建筑)

Have a nice life, thank you. Wangtao626 (talk) 03:47, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Wangtao626 Very good. Some issues to fix:
  • read WP:WTA and consider which words in your article may need removing as promotional (hint: masterpieces, for example)
  • "and are expected to become" - this needs attribution. Who is expecting that? A newspaper? A politician? A professor?
  • why in your infobox "CHINA" is capitalized?
  • Please add references to paragraphs that are missing them, for example first paragraphs of "Building List" and "Construction process". There are several others later on.
  • If a term exists in Chinese Wikipedia and has an article there, but not on English Wikipedia, please use Template:Interlanguage link to link it. Currently you link to the Chinese Wikipedia in a simpler way that is confusing to readers who may click the links, expecting to go to English article, but will arrive at Chinese
  • If the reference is in Chinese (ex. "城市随笔:珞珈樱花"), please use both the Chinese and English titles. Use Chinese title in the 'title' field, and English in the 'translated title' field. If you need help, stop by my office and I'll demonstrate how to do so.
  • Also, please ensure all references have filled in metadata - author name, date of publication, title and publisher are very important

Thank you professor, we will improve this article Wangtao626 (talk) 17:33, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your Wikivoyage article, it needs much improvement. For starters, you should add more listings to see and do - right now, see just have three, and only one is correctly formatted. @Kim jong min (hanyang) Regarding your translation from Korean to English:
  • Please make sure to add references to your article. Please remember that only referenced content can be added to English Wikipedia and only such content will count for credit. The content from Korean article that has no references needs to be referenced first before being published, or it will be deleted if it cannot be verified. See Wikipedia:Verifiability
  • Next, if the source is in Korean, please use both the Korean and English titles. Use Korean title in the 'title' field (ex. footnote 17 - K리그2 선두 광주FC, 추가시간 4분에 2골 '김포에 2-1' 극적인 역전승), and English in the 'translated title' field ( "K League 2 leader Gwangju FC, dramatic comeback win over Gimpo 2-1 with 2 goals in 4 minutes of added time") .

@Jiayyyyy Good. I see your 亚洲中心主义[编辑 | 编辑源代码] article has a number of issues tagged in the warning box at the top. Please work with editor or editors who added this warning to resolve them. You can identify them by looking at the history of your article, and then you should ask them for explanation if you don't understand the issues mentioned, or asked to check if they have been resolved if you have already tried to address them.

Thank you for your confirmation. Tyuni06 (talk) 05:31, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tyuni06 Good. I see your translation articles have a number of issues tagged in the warning box at the top, primarily related to the low quality of the translation. Please work with editor or editors who added this warning to resolve them. You can identify them by looking at the history of your article, and then you should ask them for explanation if you don't understand the issues mentioned or asked to check if they have been resolved if you have already tried to address them.
Regarding your Hanzhong article, it is missing a major element: all your entries in see and do should be in a listing format, with GPS coordinates, as we practiced in class on many occasions (if you forgot how to do it, see my during my office hours and I will demonstrate). Also, your see is too short - it should include some of what you list at do. Wuhou Temple is for example listed in both places. Please clean up your work. There are also many other issues; for example, you mention Nanhu Scenic Area in 'get around' but not in see or do. (This is just one of many similar errors). Please copyedit your article carefully. Please make sure to add Chinese names to each location mentioned, as well as an external link (like with Wuhou Temple) confirming that this place really exists and is not an AI hallucination/invention. This is our expanded Wikivoyage entry,[[2]] Thank you ——Yeomll (talk) 15:13, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Yeomll This is a good start, but there is much cleanup needed. Some of your content is still missing citations and cannot be published (For example, in the section 'Characteristics of Chinese superstition' you have references for points 2, 3 and 4, but not for 1 and 5)..
For many other cases you cite a book, but without a page range. Please specify which page numbers or which short range contain information that you are citing for a given sentence.
Next, if the source is in Chinese (ex. 李鹏《六四日记》), please use both the Chinese and English titles. Use Chinese title in the 'title' field, and English in the 'translated title' field. If you need help, stop by my office and I'll demonstrate how to do so.
I already asked you to do most of this this last month: User_talk:Hanyangprofessor2/Archive_4#Deadline4:SHAO_TIANYI_&ZHONG_QI

Your Wikivoyage entry is improving nicely. Please expand the climate section (with the graph, as we practiced in class).
Please convert items in do, buy and eat into listings (like in the see section). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:15, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We have completed the translation of Chinese into English. Please check.[3] Limengchen2777 (talk) 04:44, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Limengchen2777 Good progress, but there are still some parts that are missing references. Each paragraph needs at least one reference (or more, if one is not enough to verify all the claims made in it). I still see several paragraphs that do not have a reference - please double check your article.
There is also strange content here: "Explosion incident Main article: Burst".
There are places where links are missing, ex. "Main article: Pandownload § Author arrested" or "Baidu Japan".
I see you tried to link Chinese articles using the interlanguage template I requested, that is good, but the code is incorrect - the links are broken. Please fix them or stop by my office and I'll show you how to do it.
Please fix the issues above, and carefully proofread your article (I recommend using a tool like Grammarly). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 03:02, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Professor:

I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".Here are two translations of my “Media Trends and Globalization” course:"Climate change in North Korea"and“Korean rock”.

Here's my map extension to learn about "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki"course:JinCheng. SHENZIHE (talk) 06:00, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SHENZIHE: Hello, I am the patroller on Chinese Wikipedia. As Iming and UjuiUjuMandan mentioned on your talk page, using machine translation is disallowed on Chinese Wikipedia, and it is recommended that you rely on your own language skills to translate the article. You can also refer to the Translation Guideline and "Translationese" essay for further guidance.
You can use the article for creation process (條目建立專題) to submit your draft zh:User:SHENZIHE/韩国摇滚 and zh:User:SHENZIHE/朝鲜气候变化 for review by experienced editors. Thanks. SCP-2000 12:06, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SHENZIHE? Please be careful while editing. Why did you remove the important message above?
Please improve the quality of your translations, then ask the Chinese editors to review them. Only when they are approved by the Chinese editors, they can be published and will count for course credit.
Regarding your Jincheng articles, I do not see any map. Your article also needs a climate information with the graph template, and a banner. Please improve it to the standards we learned in class in the last two months. If needed, you can find our instructions for activities where we were learning those elements here: User:Hanyangprofessor2 – Travel guide at Wikivoyage
You can also come to my office if you have any questions. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:45, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because there is no way to change the name of the sandbox, the contents of the sandbox can only be copied to a new page. But why was it identified as machine translation. SHENZIHE (talk) 03:42, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is the article I translated in the sandbox. But there is no way to connect to the original article."Climate change in North Korea"and“Korean rock”. SHENZIHE (talk) 03:46, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SHENZIHE @SCP-2000 I am having trouble understanding your explanations. You can talk to SCP-2000 in Chinese (at their Chinese Wikipedia's talk page here User talk:SCP-2000 - 维基百科,自由的百科全书), and hopefully it will make it easier for you to resolve the issues. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 03:51, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm terribly sorry, Professor. I've already asked about SCP-2000 on the discussion page. Many of the things I don't know much about are actually generated by the machine because of the direct copy of the translation content, and I will change my translation content again. Can I delete my topic and submit it after re-changing it? Looking forward to your reply. SHENZIHE (talk) 09:54, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline5:QIANZIYI

Dear Professor: I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization" and "Understanding Small Data and Big Data through Wikis." Understanding Small and Big Data through Wikipedia: We have completed the editing Mohe "Media Trends and Globalization": I completed the translation of all my articles in the sandbox User:https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=User%3ABuryab0ne%2Fsandbox&wvprov=sticky-header Thank you for your checking. 218.235.241.134 (talk) 06:52, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Buryab0ne First, please remember to log in before making your edits (including posting messages). Only content from logged in accounts counts for our course credit.
Regarding your translation, there are many errors in the references. Please edit them carefully and fix all the fields like author, title, publisher, etc.
Next, if the source is in Chinese (ex. 李鹏《六四日记》), please use both the Chinese and English titles. Use Chinese title in the 'title' field, and English in the 'translated title' field. If you need help, stop by my office and I'll demonstrate how to do so.
Please copyedit your text - there are unncessary double footnote numbers like [1]. Please copyedit the text to more neutral - statements like "And will continue to enrich people's understanding of the history of Chinese civilization" are not neutral, not encyclopedic and arguably, poorly written (please proofread your article with a tool like Grammarly to ensure it reads well).
Are there any images of this that we can add? Please check the Chinese article for images.
Please remember that only referenced content can be added to English Wikipedia and only such content will count for credit. The content from Chinese article that has no references needs to be referenced first before being translated. See Wikipedia:Verifiability On the bright side, you can get extra credit for adding footnotes to the Chinese article Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 03:16, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
