  • I'm not sure what to make of this. The behavior certainly makes it obvious. And while we only have a very small amount of historical data, what we do have hints at WikiNicExplorer using an IP range that previous socks have used. I ran checks on WikiNicExplorer and WikiExplorerNZ1; they are ostensibly Red X Unrelated, but it's possible that proxies are obscuring the truth. But, my real dilemma is the previous block imposed by Girth Summit. If we've just unearthed the same issues that led Girth to issue that short block, then there's no reason to block again. If there's new socking activity, that's a different story. I don't think we should take any action until Girth weighs in here. RoySmith (talk) 14:33, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have no personal recollection of this case, I've reviewed my contribs from the minutes before and after I imposed that block, and the CU logs from around that time (Roy, you can see the note I entered when running a check on Diskarte), and it looks like Diskarte and WikiNicExplorer came up while I was running checks on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jairus Cambiado. Based on those notes and the actions I took at the time, I guess that I thought it just involved those two accounts, and that there wasn't an already-blocked master behind them - had I connected them to this case, I would have blocked indef.
